I REALLY want to get this game working for my son, as I played it myself as a child.

However, when I burn it to disc, and run it, it does its CDROM speed check, then says it needs an update, with no link or info to find it.

Can ANYONE, PLEASE get this working? I would be very grateful. I know there are some miracle workers on here.

I am trying to run it on an iBook G3 Clamshell
366MHz
64MB RAM
OS 9.0.4

G4 (Quicksilver) won't turn on

This morning everything was fine. This afternoon, the Powermac has no chime and the power light turns on but fades out quickly.

I suspect a bad power supply but before I tear the machine down, I thought I'd ask you about your repair experience.

If you've had a Quicksilver that didn't turn on and you got it working again, did you fix it by:
1) replacing the internal battery
2) doing a cuda reset (and it's cousins)
3) replacing the power supply
4) repairing the power supply
5) doing something that I didn't list

Transferring software to a Mac Classic II

I have a Mac Classic II running System 7.5.5 with a CD-ROM drive. Ideally I'd like to get Stuffit Expander on the system to decompress .sit files, but whenever I try to transfer that app from a modern Mac to the Classic it's mistakenly recognized as a text file if I burn a CD* or a PC Exchange document if I copy it to a floppy (the modern Mac doesn't do Mac OS Standard, so the floppy is formatted as MS-DOS).

Any advice is greatly welcome. Thank you!

*you can burn a Mac OS Standard CD from a modern Mac using the Burn app from SourceForge.

Powermac G4 Tower CPU Upgrade

I'm planning on buying 350mhz Powermac G4 tower (not sure if CPI or AGP graphics) from a local thrift store to replace my eMac for several reasons. However I'll only take it if I can upgrade the CPU on it to 1 GHz (or 867 MHz at the least). However I don't know if OS 9.2.2 would work with third party processers and I'm not finding a lot of info about it. Plus wherever I look online, I can't even find squat for any G4 CPUs. Can someone please
recommend me a processer or perhaps provide me with some info?

How can i connect new Samsung USB printer (CLP-310 model) to old Quadra 650? OK, the quadra has no USB, but if I connect printer to new Mac Pro with Mac OS X Lion and quadra to LAN over ethernet? I use a printer sharing on Lion, but Quadra can't see it now.

installing Windows 98 in Mac VirtualPC 7 is a giant pain in the buttocks - as is updating the system now that Microsoft has disabled Windows update for old OS's.

So - for the benefit of others - if anybody is interested - I can offer a copy of my "machine" which is still fairly clean:

is there anyway i can fix games like brickles that plays to fast on OS 9.2.2. this is the only mac i own and i want to make it the best 0s9 gaming and programs rig. is there any software that can play mp4s also downloaded from iTunes without having to be reauthorized. i have most of my games downloaded. im using classzilla right now on os 9.2.2.

Cannot create large enough volume/Cannot extract Space Bar

The rest of the info in this post is old. I now understand that images larger than 2GB cannot be created. However, even after loading the 9 parts of The Space Bar to a virtual volume and attempting to extract in Sheepshaver, a loading bar appears for a second but nothing happens. Also I don't know if I'll be able to extract to a different HD as there is not enough room on the one I'm keeping the files on. What can I do? Can someone upload The Space Bar for me in .sit format without being split into files?

Help! Shanghai Dynasty "Could not find application working directory"

Greetings!
I'm a non-tech-savvy person but I've set up OS9 with Sheep Shaver with no problem and have a shared Unix disk. I'm trying to install Shanghai Dynasty. I've downloaded and even got as far as installing (381 items) in the Shared Folder. I've also agreed the License Terms. The game icon then mounts on the OS9 desktop. But when I double click I get 'Could not find application working directory'.

So I must be close but no cigar. What am I missing (yes, the application working directory...)?
