Installing the SV2000 firmware

1.         Launch the SV2000 Manager v2.0.0.18 configuration utility.

2.         Verify that the SV2000 Manager is version 2.0.0.18 or earlier.  Click on the Help menu and select About to retrieve the version information. If the SV2000 Manager software version succeeds 2.0.0.18, downgrade by downloading previously released software from www.siliconimage.com.

3.         Select Specify Firmware from the Edit menu of the Status window.

4.                  Select the SV2000 requiring an upgrade.

5.                  In the Upgrade firmware from file text box, enter the file name of the new firmware you wish to use or click the Browse button to locate the file on a CD or hard disk.

6.                  Click Install Firmware to begin the upgrade.

 

Note: Do not power off the SV2000 Storage Appliance during the download. The firmware download should take less than a minute to complete. We recommend that the SV2000 is not accessed when performing a download.

 

7.                  For screen captures and additional guidance please refer to the “Install new firmware (upgrade)” section of the SV2000 User's Guide.

8.                  Upgrade to SiI4726 Configuration Manager to 4.0.0.9

 

Changes in this release

 

SiI4726 Configuration Manager version 4.0.0.9 introduces the email notification and 5 HDD FAST storage policy.

 

Known Issues

The following issues are known to exist in this version.

Under rare circumstances, pulling a drive from the system may result in I/O to other volumes stopping.

None at this time.

Attempts to initialize SiI4726 configuration device in Disk Manager result in pop up error.

The configuration device does not need to be initialized and the error can be safely ignored.

Reads/Writes to the SiI4726 configuration device result in system crash.

This should not happen unless the device is accessed in Windows raw device mode.  Please do not attempt to access this device in raw mode.

The SiI4726 Configuration Manager does not support more than four SV2000 units connected in a single system.

None at this time.

5

Hot spare and serial number from previous releases of the SiI4726 Storage Manager are not carried forward to the new version.

None at this time.
