Sad chimes at boot usually indicate a hardware problem.
If the CD was not bootable you should just get a blinking question mark.
------------------
The Chimes of death (yes, that is really what they are called) indicate
other hardware problems. On most Macs, a picture of a sad Mac will
appear in place of the usual smiling Mac, with error codes underneath.

I unstuffed the file on a mac mini and burned it at 4x in Toast, but when I toss it in my Performa, I get the sad chimes at boot. I'm using Fuji 700MB discs, so is anyone having an luck with anything else?
My teacher in either 1st or 2nd grade (I don't know which) had a Performa 6200CD, much like this one, in her classroom. Gosh, the memories...
Five stars from me for the excellent photo of the pristine looking Performa, alone.
