Mac OS 8.2 d8, a beta for what eventually became OS 8.5.
This runs in SheepShaver (I haven't tried Basilisk, though with OS 8.5 dropping support for 68k, I would presume this too would require a PowerPC Mac). Be careful though, like many betas, this build was (and is rather highly unstable).
Unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot available at this time.
CompatibilityWould recommend running on a PowerPC Mac capable of running OS 8.1 and 8.5.x or SheepShaver for best results, and not using this as a production system.

I'm sure there really was a very good reason that Gold releases of the Mac OS jumped from 8.1 to 8.5 - Although "Sarah" (Mac OS 8.7) was reasonably stable and runs well for me on SheepShaver.
This does not work for me at all. I tried it in Sheepshaver before, but after it booted, SheepShaver froze completely, and I had to force quit it. Probably a big bug.
Yep this contains those themes. The versions I have are from 8.5b6 but I've never found any of the 8.5 beta discs. Does anyone have any of them?
Appears to be a Mediafire link for it here. The file size is about right (have yet to try installing it).
It is just 64MB, and it got archived. Is there a link for it?
Thanks for the replies.
I had no idea that this version ever existed in the wild, so to speak.
I have since tried to install it on Basilisk II to no avail. Next up is my old PB G3.
OS8.1 had USB support - for the original iMac.
If I'm not mistaken, this version of OS 8 contains the Gizmo and Hi-Tech appearance themes, albeit older versions of them.
And soudesune, I don't think this would work in Basilisk II. Since this is a beta of what later became Mac OS 8.5, it's pretty likely that they're already removed a lot of the 68k code in this version. I would be very interested to try it though, should a mirror be put up.
Hi,
I have 3 questions about it: a) does it have USB-Support and b) would you be so good as to upload it to a mirror please and finally c) have you tried it in Basilisk II?
many thanks
