Mac OS 7 is a single-user graphical user interface-based operating system for Macintosh computers. It was introduced on May 13, 1991 by Apple Computer. It succeeded System 6, and was the main Macintosh operating system until it was succeeded by Mac OS 8 in 1997. Features added with the Mac OS 7 release included cooperative multitasking, virtual memory, personal file sharing, an improved user interface, QuickTime, and QuickDraw 3D.
With the release of version 7.6 in 1997, Apple officially renamed the operating system "Mac OS", a name which had first appeared on Mac OS 7.5.1's boot screen. Mac OS 7 was developed for the Motorola 68k processor, but was ported to the PowerPC after Apple adopted the new processor.
The first major upgrade was Mac OS 7.1.1, also known as "Mac OS 7 Pro". This release was a bundle of 7.1 with AppleScript tools, QuickTime and Apple Open Collaboration Environment (AOCE). While Mac OS 7 had some trouble running in slightly older machines due to memory footprint, Mac OS 7 Pro barely fit into any Macintosh computers at the time. It was most commonly used for its minor bug fixes rather than its new functionality.
Apple joined the AIM alliance (Apple, IBM and Motorola) shortly after the release of Mac OS 7 in 1991, and started work on PowerPC-based machines that later became the Power Macintosh family. Support for these machines resulted in Mac OS 7.1.2.
Mac OS 7.1.2 was never offered for retail sale; it shipped with the first batches of the PowerPC Macs. Later shipments shipped with Mac OS 7.5 instead.

The Macintosh Quadra 610 and Macintosh Centris 610 are two closely related personal computers that are a part of Apple Computer's Quadra and Centris series of Macintosh computers, respectively. When the Centris 610 was introduced in February 1993 alongside the larger Centris 650, it was intended as the start of the new midrange Centris line of computers. However, that proved confusing, and the Centris 610 was renamed to Quadra 610 in October 1993, and the CPU was upgraded from a 20 MHz 68LC040 to a full 68040 at 25 MHz - although there was one configuration, the Quadra 610 8/160, that retained the 68LC040. The Quadra 610 was discontinued in favor of the Quadra 630 in July 1994.
The Macintosh Quadra 650 and the Macintosh Centris 650 are two closely related personal computers that are a part of Apple Computer's Quadra and Centris series of Macintosh computers, respectively. When the Centris 650 was introduced in February 1993 alongside the smaller Centris 610, it was intended as the start of the new midrange Centris line of computers, a niche formerly occupied by the Quadra 700 which was discontinued. However, that proved confusing, and the Centris 650 was renamed to Quadra 650 in October 1993, with the CPU upgraded from a 25 MHz to 33 MHz. The Quadra 650 was discontinued without a direct replacement in September 1994, although the Power Macintosh 7100, introduced a few months earlier, which used the same case as the 650 (originally used on the Macintosh IIvx), had a similar target audience.

The Macintosh Quadra 660AV (Codename: "Tempest") is a personal computer that is a part of Apple Computer's Quadra series of Macintosh computers. When it was originally introduced in July 1993 alongside the Quadra 840 AV it was called the Macintosh Centris 660AV, but it was renamed without any major changes in the hardware when the Centris line was abandoned in October 1993. It was discontinued in September 1994, with no immediate replacement - however, the AV versions of the Power Macintosh 6100 that had already been introduced had a very similar position in Apple's product lineup.
The Macintosh Quadra 840AV (code names: "Quadra 1000", "Cyclone") is a personal computer that is a part of Apple Computer's Quadra series of Macintosh computers. It was introduced in July 1993 alongside the Centris 660AV, the "AV" after both model numbers signifying video input and output capabilities, as well as enhanced audio. It was discontinued in July 1994, with no immediate replacement – however, the later AV versions of the Power Macintosh 8100 took a very similar position in Apple's product lineup.

The Power Macintosh 6100 was Apple Computer's first computer to use the new PowerPC RISC type processor created by IBM and Motorola. It came in the Centris 610's "pizza box" low-profile case, and superseded the Quadra series that used Motorola's 68040 processor, Apple's previous high end workstation line.
The Power Macintosh 7100 was a mid-range Apple Macintosh personal computer that was designed, manufactured and sold by Apple Computer from March 1994 to January 1996. The PowerMac 7100 was faster and more expandable than the Power Macintosh 6100, and was a part of the original Power Macintosh line along with the 6100 and the Power Macintosh 8100. It came in a slightly restyled Macintosh IIvx case, and received a speed increase to 80 MHz (from its original 66 MHz) in January 1995. When it was discontinued it was succeeded by two new models, the Power Macintosh 7200 and the Power Macintosh 7500.
The Power Macintosh 8100 (Codenames: "Cold Fusion", "Flagship"; also sold in Japan as the Power Macintosh 8115 and with bundled server software as the Apple Workgroup Server 8150) is a personal computer that is a part of Apple Computer's Power Macintosh series of Macintosh computers. It was introduced in March 1994 alongside the Power Macintosh 6100 and the Power Macintosh 7100 as the high end model of the original Power Macintosh series and a direct continuation of the prior Macintosh Quadra 800. It also shares the 800's notoriously cramped case.

The Apple Macintosh Quadra 630 features a 33 MHz 68040 processor, 4 MB of RAM, and a 250 MB hard drive in a compact desktop case. An internal 2X CD-ROM drive and video input/output also were available as options. Notably, the Quadra 630 additionally was the first Mac to use an internal IDE bus, rather than SCSI, and as a result, it supported cheaper hard drives than earlier models.
The Apple Macintosh LC 630 (PC) features a 33 MHz 68LC040 processor, 4 MB or 8 MB of RAM, either a 250 MB or 350 MB hard drive, and a 2X CD-ROM drive in a compact desktop case.

Comments
@romulus: There appear to be more than one set of (zipped) floppy disk images on this page that are not recoverable - in that they cannot be written back to floppy media, nor mounted onto a desktop by using normal means (Disk Copy, Disk Dup+, ShrinkWrap, etc).
They can be mounted however, by unzipping on a host PC, and dragging the images into a running Mini vMac window and accessed then.
But if you want images that can be used on other systems and by other means, then you may need to look elsewhere.
System Update 3.0 used to be available from Apple, now its only available from various mirror sites. You can DL working images of System Update 3.0 here (both 1.4MB & 800K images).
Has anyone else found the SYSUPD3_71.ZIP (System 3.0 Update .image files) are not working?
Okay. I will make it soon.
Hi Fortuna Wave.
If you feel like going the extra mile, you might consider putting links into the relevant parts of the description for the files that you upload to the internal server. That will make it really easy for anyone to immediately access what they want. On the other hand, if you don't feel like doing it, it is no matter as the files are there for all to see.
Great to see these files back again.
ALL the links are dead... a greasemonkey script tried them all
IIGS_User: You don't need to delete this page. It has some kind of information. I have placed all placeholders before someone will make a mirror.
Most of the mirrors are dead, so I think it's the easiest way to delete this page?
There's a lot of PlainTalk versions on the July 1997 SW Updates CD, you can find it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?1tzt9p24d2hyq
FYI for Mac OS 7.1 for Quadra 660AV & 840AV v1.2, Disk Copy refused to mount "PlainTalk 4", saying it had a bad checksum. I got around this by doing a custom install omitting Text-to-Speech and Speech Recognition, then afterward installing the latest version of PlainTalk from http://www.info.apple.com/support/oldersoftwarelist.html.
Edit: Replaced 'xxx 7' by 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User
This is nothing but a pointless duplication of what I already uploaded, plus redundant and unnecessary installers. The only unique one is the version of 7.1.2 for the LC 630 which isn't covered by the full installer, and honestly you could just as easily install 7.5 on that one.
I wash my hands of this. If someone else wants the site to be complicated and hard to search and understand, go for it.
