This page holds different version of Pixelmator, which is a graphics editing application
designed for Mac OS X.
Compatibility note:
Pixelmator 1.6 requires an Intel based Mac with Mac OS X 10.6. License numbers given for Pixelmator 1.6.x will also activate Pixelmator 1.5.1 - this way, Pixelmator can also be used on Macs, which are not compatible to Snow Leopard. Pixelmator 1.5.1 can be downloaded in our Download Area.

This thread holds some other informations about Pixelmator: MacGarden/Request: Pixelmator 1.2.3 and 1.5.1
Mac App Store Buy Link:
The recent version is available in the Mac App Store: Mac App Store - Pixelmator
Some information from the developer on this release:
Version 1.6.6: Intel only, Mac OS X 10.6 or higher.
Version 1.5.1: Works on OSX Tiger and LeopardPowerPC.
Version 1.3: Works on OSX Tiger PowerPC.
Normally such a recent (2011) application would not be allowed here. However, in this case the developers have confirmed that they no longer have copies of this or earlier versions, and no longer support them. So this is an unusual case of exceptionally young abandonware.
Comments
I know about 1.6.6 (yes), but not the others.
I'm confused. Do I need a license number to use version 1.6.6 or any of the versions here?
I have added Pixelmator v1.5.1 to this page as it is the last version that runs on PPC-based Macs.
I managed to get an older revision of Pixelmator from this torrent link and uploaded it to this site. It is the v1.1.1 that was once released in the "MacHeist 2" software bundle. Please feel free to move it to a separate page.
I am still in search for the v1.2.3 of Pixelmator !
If this one will be added, please create a new entry because of the different architecture.
Should we add Pixelmator v1.5.1 to this page or create another one ? It would also fit better to the MacGarden guidelines as it is the last Universal (Intel+PPC) version of it.
I am still in search for v1.2.3, so please upload it if you have it!

We better get used to the thought of archiving abandoned x86 software. Given the fact that we're almost a decade on Intel Macs, there is a lot of software that was written and has long been abandoned since.
As I keep stating, it's never too early starting to archive what might be difficult to impossible to archive in a decade from now. We're facing this problem with a lot of classic Mac OS and even PPC OS X stuff. Good luck finding the good stuff for your upgraded OSX 10.2 system! I personally still hope for some
sys..OS 7 software from my childhood to surface again but I fear it might be lost forever. We just need to make sure it is really abandonware as in we're not hurting the creators of great Mac software financially. Moreover, I strongly encourage to put links to recent versions of abandoned software (if it exists, as in this case) and encourage to buy it if you want to use it on your modern system. I think a lot of developers could live with that. Example: Already three times I ran into old software here on MacGarden that I would eventually buy for my Snow Leo Mac. (DragThing, iCab and GraphicConverter ...)
I don't see problems removing this entry
(either un-tick "published" (or completely deleting this one, I don't care).
I guess each of us has a different view of what is acceptable here and, in the absence of definitive statements from the admins, all we can do is make our own judgements before uploading. This item would not pass my own self-imposed criteria for uploading that I have expressed elsewhere. It would fail my test on two counts because it is (1) less than 10 years old and (2) is Intel native.
Only 3 years & Intel Mac... My opinion was this one is not eligible at the current time as this item is too new for abandonware status.
However... Looking at their web site for clues, I spied this recent posting from one month ago:
With that being the company attitude & policy, I've changed my opinion on this version here (not being abandonware). I'm still not liking to see Intel only Mac apps here, tho' & would prefer that it wasn't here.
"Check for Updates…" located in the Application menu results in an err msg:
"Update error. An error occured in retrieving update information. Please try again later.",
so this issue can't be checked, I think.
This isn't available via the in-app Software Update feature in 1.6.x?
Can't say it's a good idea to have here especially if the serial is included.
I should have written before, the Application Systems links above points only to a distributor.
Sorry for confusing the situation.
Thanks. I understand the situation now, and have restored my text addition to the page.

IIGS User, I have added a few words to the page.
EDIT: I have just removed my extra words from the page. On checking the page linked to above I see that they have version 1.6.6 for download (under 1.6.5 heading). The version on this page above is also version 1.6.6. So why is this OK to put here?
EDIT again: Where is the original developers website if it is not the one above?
Mrdav, you're right, because it's a 2011 application.
As I'm not an English native speaker, do you have an idea how to form the words about?
Might be worth mentioning on the page the reason why it is OK to put this here, so that new members do not get inappropriate ideas about what is OK to upload. Not everyone will necessarily read the forum that lead to this upload.
