so i looked online for the specs for the macintosh classic ii and it said it had a 8mb ram upgrade.....
is i looked online and did some research.
what i found is i could buy 2mb ram cards,which were more expensive than the 16 mb ram cards.
so what i was wondering is can i upgrade my ram to more than 8mb...i dont want to buy these, put them in and find it breaks my computer.....
Your Classic II has two 30 pin SIMM slots which will accept 2 x 1, 2 & 4 MB 30 pin SIMMs. There is a maximum RAM ceiling of 10 MB (includes 2 MB onboard RAM).
Both slots need to be filled & the 30 pin SIMMs need to be the same type and the same speed, 100 ns or faster. Some say they even need to be electrically identical to the onboard RAM, but I don't know if this is correct.
So RAM is maxed out at 10 MB for this model.
With 32 bit addressing turned on you can use "RAM Doubler" to utilize RAM limitations more effectively. RAM Doubler versions from 1.6 to 9 can be located here at the Garden.
