Normal PC Voodoo 2 passthrough 3dfx cards will work (without bios flash) when 3dfx extensions are put in the extensions folder of OS8 / OS9.
The problem is I can not find these extensions anywhere...
If someone can send them to me / host / upload or link I will try to get a mini-guide sorted once I sort it all out.
