Are you running this in Mac OS 8.6-9, or in Classic? I'm pretty sure this one doesn't work in Classic at all.

in classic. why won't it work in classic? i played the demo on a mac os 9 with the same system. and the system was really buggy but it still worked.

I also got the experience 4x4 Evo 1 doesn't work Classic, from an original CD-ROM I owned a while ago.
Run 4x4 Evo 2 instead, this will work.
