Adding AMIGA ShapeShifter to compatibility

what about adding also compatibility to amiga shapeshifter 3.11?
i'm doing some tests and quite much games work. some perfect with decent framerates..

shapeshifter is THE REFERENCE for amiga mac emulation. and no further developed (afaik).
this has to be shown on a retrobased website too.

SheepShaver is based on Shapeshifter, so they are basically the same.

I see no need to add Shapeshifter. Wink

i talk about that: http://aminet.net/package/misc/emu/ShapeShifter
this is from late 2000 and would not get updated anymore (i think).
so this is besides fusion the only way (and most popular way) to emulate a mac on the amiga!
and so it would be interesting for amiga users if those games/apps from here would work or not.

as it is THE REFERENCE of mac emulation on amiga, this feature could easily be add.

SheepShaver is in active development currently, and it's a good idea to list current emulators only.

of course! shapeshifter 3.11 is the current for amiga! Smile

and sheepshaver is not, nor basilisk. it is NOT THE SAME (the name says it).

Amiga is outdated, like my Apple ][GS computer, manufactured nearly at the same time.
And so, ShapeShifter is. Crazy

Yeah, it's actually an interesting thing to try if you have an Amiga, but there's really no call for adding that one to the list of compatible emulators.

I vote for SoftMac,
I doesn't requiere extra Drivers, it's totally Portable (I have it in my FlashDrive)
it works fine with almost ALL the software, and it's easy to setup.
it's drives are compatible with SheepShaver and mini vMac,
meaning it can be mounted on either emulator and exchange files between them,
(but not with Basilisk)

SoftMac doesn't really work well with any of the software, since it doesn't emulate sound. I'd say that makes it rather unhelpful for gamers!

I still use it (Softmac) and works great with me,
(actually I use it for 2 years before I knew basilisk existed)
otherwise I wouldn't promote it,

all the Apps work fine, and most of the games that's true,

on the latest version, Sound finally works and more memory can be allocated,
(yep, not having Sound was frustrating sometimes, but I'm more of an App person rather than games, so I didn't really need sounds))

I'm not saying is as good as basilisk, but is NOT as bad as alot of people think

too bad the Author updates it almost every 4 years.

it is also Very useful for transfering games to vMac, thus avoiding ALL the problems
of unstuffing programs within vMac.

Also I can carry it with me and show/play Macintosh Software on other computers without having to install anything on those computers, this is very useful for me cuz I make a lot of PDF's within Softmac, and many other things I could still go on.

What version does sound work? I've been using SoftMac for a decade and haven't had sound on any version.

The most recent version included a check-box that says "sound" in the GUI, but the emulator still doesn't actually make any sounds.

It's the Gemulator/SoftMac 9.0 BETA 4

http://www.emulators.com/beta.htm
(scroll down until you see the download link)

this one REALLY adds sound (crashes with some games though),
and allows to increase the RAM over 32mb, unlike v8.2.

In my experience, sound crashes every game in SoftMac. Even that beta. Can you tell me a game where sound works so I can try it out? Seriously... I've been waiting a decade for SoftMac to make SOME sound.

When I tested it (before I knew Mac garden and Basilisk) , I only had my Mac 4 Pac Games CD and it worked on these:

-out of this world,
-Battlechess (B/W)

..with no glitches,so i was Impressed,
then a few days after I adopted Basilisk and I didn't test anymore games 'cuz I didn't have to,
(but now that's been resurrected in my mind, I'm gonna test more games)

Since it crashed, I went back to v8.2 'cuz as I said, I use it mainly for Applications.

Please do let us know your results.

It is true that SoftMac's 68000 black and white emulation has been able to produce sounds for a few people. But you are the first one I've spoken who has been able to get sound in the main emulation.
