Adobe PageMaker 6.5 not installing??

On my magic ex-Publishing House CDROM (circa OS7) I have found Adobe PageMaker 6.5 complete with 2 serial numbers which I believe to be genuine as all other numbers I've used for the other Adobe products all worked just fine. However, when I try either of the two numbers provided, the installer rejects them (not a valid Adobe number). I have also tried a "naughty" serial number, that too was rejected.
Does anyone know why the Adobe PageMaker 6.5 installer should reject valid serial numbers?

I'm trying to install on a Mac 9500 OS9.1

Hopefully once I've got it installed, would it be a worthy addition to the Mac Garden?

IIRC the Adobe installer made a difference between copy-and-pasted and written numbers.

Yes of course it would be a worthy addition... Note that it was previously uploaded (The English language version, now no longer available for DL) under "P" for "PageMaker 6.5" not under "A" for "Adobe PageMaker 6.5" where you would expect all Adobe apps to be located... This is a wiki too, after all... rant... rant... rant... sigh...

New Adobe installers make a distinction between a business and an individual. Make sure you use these "naughty" serials as an individual. It will even prefill the info from previous installs.

Thanks for the suggestions. No luck as of yet, I did try that Business vs Individual option, but was guessing so will try again. I also tried typing the number and cut&paste, no luck. I also tried changing the computer clock to 1997 when the installer was created. Still no luck. But I wonder, how about if the installer checks the serial number against the company name? Funny how all the other Adobe products installed with no probs an that same machine.

@themacmeister: you say "It will even prefill the info from previous installs." - could that be a clue?? If the installer DOES fill in the info from my other Adobe apps. (Illustrator, Dimentions, Distiller) Although I don't have any other version of PageMaker installed anywhere.

I would look for an old version of a prefs file/folder in /System Folder (OS9)/Preferences

Obviously, looking into the Adobe folder in Application Support is a given.

Remove Pagemaker prefs and try again.

You may have to dump the database file (userregistration.db)??? if none of these serials works. This will probably require you to re-enter ALL your adobe serials (AS INDIVIDUAL).

Try the last serial first, as it looks like it might still work with the 6.52 update installed

thanks "themacmeister" - I tried the last serial from your list and PageMaker 6.5 installed perfectly. I can only assume the serials that came with my PageMaker were for the eariler version (6.0?).
Just for the record the serials I have are: 02E652R7210483-169, MDW301B7228154-862

Now I know my PM installs I'll compress and upload it.
