Amazon Trail 1 encounters an error

Like most other people, I tried to run an old favorite of mine called Amazon Trail (the original, no digitized actors) and no matter what I do, the game always crashes on my eMac running Mac OS 9.2.2. I don't recall Amazon Trail crashing on older hardware like the slotloading iMac G3, but I can't be certain. Simply put I perfectly remember playing this game, but I have no clue why it doesn't work now. Can somebody help?

Concerning the actual error, it's the same one you guys have likely heard dozens of times. Game has encountered type 2 error, you should save your work etc...

Try running it in an emulator running an older os?

Considering I'm having enough trouble as it is getting a 68k Mac emulator to have color support, I think I'd be better off using real hardware.

Some time I could probably use one of these old iMac G3s, using an older version of OS 9 (or in the case of this one particular iMac if it works, 8.6) to play Amazon Trail with as well as others.

Well I feel really dumb now. Why did I go to all the trouble of downloading Amazon Trail off Macintosh Garden, when I had the CD version sitting in my CD tower right in front of me this entire time!

*sigh*, to make a long story short, Amazon Trail CD works just fine in Mac OS 9.2.2. It even has full voice acting. Does anybody want me to upload this version of Amazon Trail to Macintosh Garden? Or if it's too big, make a mirror of it somewhere? Can regular users make game/application entries?

If it's abandonware, the CD version would be a great addition. Size would mean that it would have to go off-site.

I'm sure it's Abandonware, since you know the floppy version is. The CD is about 480MB. Definitely isn't going on the site itself. I'll probably just use my old MediaFire account to upload it.

What kind of disc image format should I use? ISO or something similar would be the most convenient for me. Toast is very new to me and I can never seem to get it to do what I want.

.toast and .img seem to be the preferred formats. I'd probably go with .img because that plays nicer with OS 9 (it is the native format, after all) - but I'm not the authority.

I am, however, excited to see a working copy of this might finally arrive.

The Amazon Trail CD Version has now been added to Macintosh Garden. Here's the link:

I made it into a .toast image compressed into a .rar file. Considering I downloaded a .rar compressed Mac OS 9.2.2 install CD, I doubt it's going to cause any harm to this particular toast image.

If it is a PC/Mac hybrid CD-ROM (like the one you've uploaded), the .toast format will also save the PC part, which is very appreciated to this site.
