Anyone Using 64 bit Windows?

Is anyone here using a 64 bit version of Windows?

I thought I might draw attention to this thread:

Which suggests a solution to the cdenable.sys problem that effects Basilisk II and SheepShaver in 64 bit versions of Windows. It says:

"I had the same problem with cdenable.sys on 64-bit Windows 7 but managed to find a solution. Put the file to "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\drivers" instead and it should work fine. The "WoW64" actually stands for "Windows 32-bit On Windows 64-bit" and is a compatibility layer for 32-bit applications and drivers."

Would be nice if someone could test this out and confirm the fix. I don't use that operating system myself.

I prefer to ignore the cdenable.sys messages, as I don't want to install drivers if I can avoid it. Because both Sheepsaver and Basilisk II read ISO CD images just fine, I have no need to use the actual CD device in the emulator.

That's all well and good, but I have a stack of CDs that I have to make images out of and I'll be happy if I can do it on WinXP 64-bit.

I'm trying it out now. Surprised it was this easy to fix.

While it seems to work, any CD I place in the drive is unreadable in the emulated MacOS. Maybe I'm missing something somewhere. In the stdout.txt file it writes "FATAL: .AppleCD/Control(100): unimplemented TOC type"
