When adding a new app, I notice that the Year and Publisher fields do not seem to end up in the application detail. If you edit the entry, it remembers the fields, but it's just not in the generated HTML.

Blank Publishers might have something to do with data entry. Take a look at MacPaint 2.0. It has non-blank "Author" and "Publisher 2" data. I'm not sure what the logic is to display "Publisher" in the detail, but it's not surprising that it's blank if there's no way to input just plain Publisher--like there is with games.

This can easily be fixed for apps, but I seem to remember that I didn't want to put in the Publisher field for apps, until I could do it the 'right way'. Currently the publisher field is implemented the wrong way for games. It's all a little complicated.
I can instantly fix it, but all Publisher data will be lost. And then on a games page I will be able to show all 'Companies' e.g. Maxis, but I won't be able to split up the 'terms' into 'Publisher' and 'Author/Developer'. See this Drupal issue for more details:
