Appleworks for Windows

I am looking for Appleworks for Windows v5 or 6. The MediaFire links to v6.2 on on the Appleworks 6.x page no longer work.

Thanks.

looks like version 5.0.3 is at Winworld (winworldpc.com) - might also be at Vetusware but I didn't look

Thanks for the tip about Winworld. I am downloading v5.0.3 now. Vetusware only has Clarisworks 4, which only works on early versions of the Windows OS. I am trying to find stuff that will work on XP.

BTW I am a Mac user, and I actually hate Windows, but it's a long story.

Some people here must have Apple Works6 for Windows. It is still running with W7/64 BTW.
I´ll upload, if its not already on Max1zzz´s server.

(No need for Windows bashing, W2K or XP make near perfect Apple Talk servers with PCMacLan. Smile )

Done. Please look at Max1zzz´s awesome server: Dos Uploads/AW6_PC.zip (23,7MB)

Thanks 24bit, I am downloading now.

I am not having much luck here. The v5.0.3 at Winworld is a Mac version, not Windows. I downloaded AW6_PC.zip from Max1zzz´s server but the zip file won't unzip.

UPDATE: I downloaded it again, and it worked this time.

Glad it was working finally. ZIP is not my first choice for compression usually, but for a Windows app, I thought I should make an exception. Smile

glad you found it - if you don't have it already consider installing 7zip (Windows) for your future de-compressing needs

@TataMisia
Can I get a copy of CW5 please? Thanks.

No response from TataMisia, and there is no way of contacting him/her on this forum.

Would anyone else like to help with CW5 for Windows?
Thanks.

I've got it now; I didn't realize it was there!

Many thanks to TataMisia.

I've just come across Appleworks 5 for Windows. As far as I can tell it is identical to CW5 in functionality. The only difference appears to be the name, and the start-up graphic.

If anyone wants it I can upload it.

You're right the only difference between ClarisWorks 5 and AppleWorks 5 is the name.
Back in the days, Apple Computer, Inc. moved this "game" back from its software daughter Claris.

I think it is safe to add AW5 for Windows to the existing page:
MacGarden/AppleWorks 5.0.x

What do other readers think?

No objections from me. My copy of ClarisWorks 5 on CD came with both Mac and Windows installers - and as CWks 5 & AppleWorks 5 are identical apart from their name change; Why not? It'll make it easier to locate either, if on the same page.

I've added Appleworks 5 for Windows to the Appleworks page, as suggested above. There is nothing on that page to say that it is a Windows version though. I have also added a link to a Mediafire download, on the Clarisworks 5 for Windows page.

Cleaned up the page a bit, describing the downloads.

I could also deliver ClarisWorks 3 for Windows (3.1/95) ,
but I'm not sure yet, whether it's in German or English.

@IIGS_User: Yes please. I would like to have this version archived.

I just tried the AW5 for Windows download, and it doesn't work. Maybe I did something wrong when I uploaded it? I can upload it again, but I don't know what I might have done wrong the first time.

@gim: Don't re-upload. The DL links are never active initially, because an Admin has to manually make the link become active with the amazonaws site, the link on the page that the DL points to. This can take several days, if not weeks before an admin can get around to doing this.

Patience is a virtue as they say. They usually become active after a while. If they don't, say after a couple of weeks or so, then get concerned and ask questions.

The error messages that you get in the meantime for fresh uploads are normal.

ClarisWorks 3 for Windows I could deliver is version allemande.
I think I'll add it to the existing entry of ClarisWorks 3.0CDv1

This is ClarisWorks 3 for Windows 3.1/95, German version:
ClarisWorks3_Ger_Win.cdr.zip (100.64 MB).
It's a CD-ROM edition by 3rd party publisher, including some other Claris demo software
(ClarisWorks 4, FileMaker,...).

Now I think I'ld prefer to create a new entry for it, like it has been done for ClarisWorks for Win v.5.0 already,
to leave things clear.

If I'ld add CW3Win to the existing CW3Mac entry, I'ld vandalize this entry, which I don't want to do.

ClarisWorks3_Ger_Win.cdr.zip (100.64 MB).

Many thanks for this. I've been wanting (an above ver. 1.x) ClarisWorks for a Windows 3.11 install I have.

Changing the suffix ".cdr" to ".iso" allowed me to burn to CD on Windows successfully. The folder marked "Vorlagen" contains some 400 CWks docs and templates which may be useful too.

I'm going to add English dictionaries to the installed set. I'm familiar enough with ClarisWorks to not be hindered by my lackluster German language skills Smile

Looks like I should really create a separate page for CW3Win, and you could add the english templates to this page as well ("Vorlagen" = "Templates") .

The first time I came over ClarisWorks for the Mac, I bought it from 2nd hand, but I looked vor version 2.0 instead of 1.0, to get a more recent version.
Later I bought 4.0 Mac, also from second hand, and some month later, when I bought a PowerBook 190cs (which is still in my chamber) , v3.0 (Mac version) was pre-installed.

Btw, a lot Germans migrated to Australia/New Zealand, so some of the citizens may understand this language as well. Wink

For sure. My next door neighbor is Aussie born with German parents. I like very much the German language too, but unlike yourself with good English, my German is very poor with an understanding of a only few words with not enough retained to converse beyond a 2 or 3 word sentence... and then it would probably be upside down Wink

The first time I came over ClarisWorks for the Mac, I bought it from 2nd hand, but I looked vor version 2.0 instead of 1.0, to get a more recent version...

The first commercial software I ever purchased was ClarisWorks v1.0 for Windows. This was not long after I inherited a Mac SE (my 1st Mac). I couldn't afford much at the time and PC User magazine was giving away a crippled CWks 1 for Windows, with a low cost upgrade option to purchasing a full CWks vs. 1 for the PC... I had a PC at the time, so I purchased it.

I still have that original disk set of CWks 1 for Win 3.1 Smile

But not until now have I come across a version of CWks that can run on Win 3.1 before your upload. Incredible. - I own a copy of CWks 4 (& 5) for Windows, but they are for Windows 95 or newer, only.

Thought CW3Win's minimum requirement is Windows 3.1, it requires Win32s as well.

Yes. That's why I'm so pleased for your input here. CWks 3 Win was the last version for Win 3.1, it needed Win 32's, as did Claris FileMaker Pro 3 & 4 (probably others too). Albeit, they run just fine on Win 95 and later.
