I have a linux root partition that I made using the dd command. Is there any equivalent type of program in mac os classic. I want to dump the image to a hard disk partition with out the program doing any checks on what it is.

Assuming you have a big enough external drive or USB stick, I see no reason why you cannot use Slackintosh PPC and continue using "dd".
