Hi,
I'm not sure if this is the correct way to describe it, as I'm inexperienced with virtual disk images (and not really a pro with mac emulation in general either). El Fish expands to a Folder containing 3 disk files, and clicking on the first allows me to run the installer. However, I'm supposed to insert the second disk somehow, and I don't know how to do it. Do I need to create virtual floppies and mount them somehow maybe?

Simply mount all disk images at once (in the hope, the emulated Mac system doesn't eject some disks after desire and mood when prompting to insert the next disk) .
Or, when prompted to insert the next disk, switch to the emulated Mac OS Finder, and double-click the requested disk (image) .

Thanks. I don't know how to mount it so that it works though. I put the expanded disk files under the volumes tab of Basilisk, and they do get opened right after booting, but the installer then still prompts me for the second disk, and there's no reaction after clicking or pressing any keys, it appears to hang.

It should work both ways: Mounting by volumes tab of Basilisk as well as mounting by double-clicking the disk images within Basilisk.
I've no idea why the installer asks for its disks even if they're already mounted.

If only I came by a year or two sooner, as I have an answer.
I ran into the exact same problem after successfully setting up Basilisk. First problem is, the El-Fish installer is hardwired to 'freeze' the system and wait for disk#2 to be inserted. Having all 3 disks show up at once doesn't help, whether you do it with Basilisk's config GUI or with DiskCopy 6 inside the emulation.
The only solution is to have a PC with a physical floppy drive, and to actually write out the disk images to three floppy disks.
But that isn't enough. Basilisk II 2010 is supposed to seek the floppy drive whenever you press ctrl+shift+F11, but it does not. I have found that Basilisck142 (distributed as 'basilisk142.zip') will seek the floppy, and ONLY then willl the install proceed.
Once the install is done, the post-install El-Fish folder could be transferred to a computer that doesn't have a floppy drive, where it can be copied into the virtual volume using HFVExplorer.exe. Either Basillisk II 2010 or Basilisk II142 will run it, as there is no longer a need for a floppy drive.

What I would like to see is a version of Basilisk that allows you to 'insert' virtual floppies, in a separate dialouge box, which would overcome the screen remaining 'frozen' waiting for the next disk. The 2010 version seems to have abandoned support for real floppies anyway, so it might as well point to a virtual floppy drive.
