yo, love the site.
i was wondering if you would consider elite force 2 abandon ware, as ive looked about the net and only found it selling 2nd hand or on amazon, and copys are limited.
everywhere else it says product discontinued.
what do u think?

I would love to get this game, and I consider it abandonware since its based on the Quake III engine, which has been open sourced...
Elite Force 2 was pulled from shelves because of licensing issues. Many games are based on the Quake engine that are still actively sold.
It's unclear if it's considered abandonware because it's not exactly old, but it's not exactly being sold anymore either.
I think it would be abandonware because they don't sell it any more (i don't care WHY they don't sell it anymore), and i consider any game that can not be bought from the publisher and they arent producing any new content for it (like patches) abandonware. And it is based on quake III (and the original elite force, which is abandonware), and quake is open source now. And even though some quake III games are still being sold, im pretty sure they have been cleared with the GNU so they can sell them. Elite force II was discontinued before quake went open source, so the liscence is void anyway (because it was never approved by the GNU for them to sell it again, or at least i don't think). Please tell me if you think my reasons are wrong.
