External download help

I found an updated driver for the Flighstick Pro on CNET (v1.3.3). However the download doesn't progress even though I get a message that it will "download shortly". It looks as though the link is still good and active, as the file is showing that it had 2 downloads last week.

I've tried Safari, Camino, and Firefox (and tried the CNET troubleshooting process). Maybe someone with IE can try to download this please? It would make a great upload to this site, and I would very much like this driver as well. Thanks!

On a side note, I phone CH Products this morning and asked them if they could E mail me any old ADB drivers for the Flightstick. I was told by Tech Support that they "got rid of them" when they went to USB.

Yeah right, they deleted their own <1 MB drivers and no longer possess them. :bull:

Then I got the old "You can always upgrade" line. I explained I am still using an ADB keyboard along with a vintage Mac. That got me nowhere.

This is just another reason why Macintosh Garden is so invaluable.

Tried to download with IE 7 on WinXP; download does not proceed here, either.

Thank xy. That site is so screwy. I'm logged in, but when I try to leave a comment, it says I have to log in. So I can't seem to leave a comment right now on the download page so that the OP can step in to help.

I've been feeling the pain of the demise/adsorption of Versiontracker. I do not like CNET, at all.

I have the v1.2.9 Installer from a June 1996 MacWorld cover disc. I've also got earlier versions from 1995 cover discs.

The v1.2.9 installer is only 552KB, so there's a very good chance the v1.3.3 installer you seek will be on archive.org, if it was an html download,

Don't think CNET, who took over the mac-friendly versiontacker.com, actually host any of the downloads themselves. It'll just be a link to the original download on the Gravis website, which you have discovered, either no longer exists, or has moved location.
Didn't check tucows, they used to host a lot of their downloads, if the original publishers would let them.

The v1.2.9 installer would be very welcome bertyboy. I'm using v1.1 right now and although I don't detect anything major, I've noticed some slight idiosyncrasies that hopefully have been corrected in later versions.

The only reliable download site of this kind probably is Tucows since they seem to have their own server and don't just mirror downloads.

Another thing about CNET... they may as well just remove all things Macintosh from their site rather than pretending that they care about the Mac community.

Recently I downloaded an app that was identified as "Macintosh" but during the dl I checked and it was a .exe. Worse, I then read the comments and people had been complaining about this for over a year since the app had been uploaded, and nobody bothered to fix it.

I can't possibly think of enough colorful metaphors to hurl at CNET, but no matter how many nor how descriptive, any superlative would be gross understatement.
