Forgot how to install games. Please Help

I have the Mac up and running and it works fine.
I have not done this for about 8 months so I can not remember how to get the games to work.

I have downloaded Spin Doctor and I get only 1 file, a sit. file.
I try to drag that file on to Stuffit Expander but nothing happens. I get a small flash and a new folder appears which is called "Spin Doctor 2" and inside that 1 file is located named ".DS_Store"

I have got this game to work once before but I simply can not remember how I did.

All help appreciated.

I use Basilisk II and HFVExplorer and the system is 7.5.5.
I am doing this on Vista.

Hope you use Stuffit Expander's Mac version inside of Bas, not the Windows version? The '.DS_Store' file is confusing at all, because it's a hidden Mac OS X file, which isn't expected with the d/l.
Probably the game has been stuffed while running Mac OS X, not Mac OS 9.

Usually, nothing should be wrong, but even on Mac OS X 10.4 (which I use currently) some expanded files shows up as empty folders, until I move the folder onto another disk volume.

Mmm, the "spin_doctor.sit" archive is a kludged version of the game (still better than nothing if the original install media isn't available), created in OSX and stuffed with Stuffit v7.

Can't help with the version, but I can re-upload it in a Stuffit v5.5 format, more suitable for OS8 and 9.

I am pretty new to this but I have managed to get it to work once before. I have managed to get Spin Doctor to work like a charm until yesterday and I had to remove files and start all over because it was simply too comfusing.

I am using this guide http://www.emaculation.com/doku.php/basilisk_ii_setup and I KNOW that it has worked before. As I said, the game worked fine until yesterday.

All I need to know is how to get the downloaded Spin Doctor file from this page to work. Where to put it and what to do with it to make it work.

Okey I have noticed one thing. I manage to get the sit. files to look like a symbol and not just a plain white "paper". I drag that file to Stuffit.

What happens is that I get a flash, the Mac is doing something, and a new plain whitle "paper" pops up with the same name.

That file also appears in the folder where I have all the files for Basilisk II etc.

Is it something wrong with Stuffit Expander then?
I am very comfused...

Try the other way: Open Stuffit Expander first, then browse from Stuffit Expander's File -> Unstuff (Apple-O ) menu to the file to be unstuffed.

Download it again, it was previously compressed in a Dtuffit v7 frmat, which your Stuffit v4 or v5 or v5.5 (in Basilisk) may not understand. It's now in Stuffit v5.5 format.

GyllenBlue,

As bertyboy said, re-download it. Your problem was only with the type of archive.

You never would have been able to get that original download working in Basilisk II.
