I'm a PC user (XP and ubuntu) using mini vmac, and haven't been able to use some of the games that I've downloaded.
The .sit files contain different kinds of files, sometimes just one, sometimes a few, most of them don't have a .disk or .image extension, sometimes no extension at all, so I cannot use it as a virtual disk in vmac, or at least I don't know how.
Can anyone help me, please?
I would consider getting Basilisk II up and running. It emulates a Mac OS 7.5 to Mac OS 8.1 era Macintosh, but more importantly, provides a means to move between a Mac and a Windows file system. You can mount "My Computer" on the virtual mac's desktop. Given that capability, you can:
1) Use FileCopy 6.3.3 in Basilisk to make disk images that contain any files you want.
2) Use the "My Computer" drive to drop those image files into the Windows file system.
3) Open those disk images up in Mini vMac.
You can also use Basilisk to make those disk images, then let the emulator format the new space. If you had a bunch of games, for instance, you can make a large games volume that you fill up in Basilisk by dragging stuff out of Windows and unstuffing/unhexing in the emulator. Then, just mount that volume in Mini vMac.

It's Disk Copy 6.3.3, not FileCopy.
If the files expanded from .sit comes with the suffix .img (or even .dmg, which isn't recommended) then it's a Disk Copy image which easily can be mounted as drive to the emulator (outside of it in its preferences dialog or even inside the emulator by double-clicking it to get a virtual drive mounted).
It's Disk Copy 6.3.3, not FileCopy.

You don't need to generate a disk image to use the games.
You just need to expand that .sit file using Stuffit Expander IN THE EMULATED MAC OS and then play the game.
Sounds like you are trying to expand the file in Windows and then mount it in Mini vMac. This won't work... you can't do anything with the file in Windows. You got to do it in the emulated environment.
That said, NONE of the games on this site can be expanded using Stuffit in Mini vMac. They are Stuffit 5 format, and you can only install Stuffit 4 in Mini vMac. That's a longstanding problem with Macintosh Garden.
So what you need to do is set up Basilisk II, install Stuffit 5 onto your emulated Macintosh and then expand the games. Then run them.

For what it's worth, many of the games don't have any disk images. They are just the files.
OK, thank you all. I'm running now Mac OS 7.5 on basilisk, and have installed Stuffit 5 on it.
However, when I expand the DiskCopy.sit file, it only extracts a DiskCopy.img file, and I cannot further expand it (nothing happens).
What should I do? Mac OS 7 won't open the old games I wanna play (Apache Strike, for instance), that's why i'm really into finding a way so I can create disk images and opening them in mini vmac.

If a game is too old to play in Basilisk II, you can install it to some hard disk image (in Basilisk II) and then mount that image in Mini vMac (after booting from some other disk).

Azathoth, forget about getting disk images from the VAS. You would be best suited just making your own via the Basilisk II GUI. Then you can make them whatever size you want. Or you can just make one big one and install all of your games to it.
