There are no Pippin Emulators. The MESS project has been making notable progress on emulation of 680x0 Macs and the hardware the Pippin uses is PPC so they can't be too close - http://www.mess.org/sysinfo:pippin
Don't expect a Pippin Emulator that even closely looks like it works for a year or two, I would say. Even longer, if we want to be honest with ourselves.
Some Pippin software had Mac OS compatibility, while others had at least a similar version on the Mac OS.
If you own a real Pippin, then it can play burned copies. I have tested this myself, and have assisted in preserving some Pippin ISOs over at Undergroundgamer, where there is the definitive Pippin torrent collection.
What software are you attempting to emulate a Pippin for? Outside of a Marathon clone, a racing game, tons of weird weird weird Japanese stuff, and a DBZ game there wasn't much made for it.
PiP
P!N Development SDK.
Your best bet is to use SheepShaver or a real Pippin era Mac.
If you want to use the SDK to develop something, I'd suggest developing for a OS 7.5.2 target for just the Mac, and then worrying about getting it running on a Pippin once done.
The best way to get things up and running would be to utilize the more Mac-like interface to the Pippin, basically using the Finder, as again it can be treated like a standard machine. There was a great deal of third party Japanese stuff that used Pease Turbo as a frontend to launch Finder, then launch an app. More detail here: http://www.vintagemacworld.com/pip1.html
Creating a real Pippin game that booted straight to an environment in a real Pippin/emulator would probably require the authentication files that I doubt can be created easily.
Well, After i pointed SheepShaver at the SDK and then boot it up, It quits for NO reason at the happy mac.
Can i use Basilisk ][?
Sounds too complicated.
There was some lengthy discussion about using SheepShaver as Pippin emulator over here:
SheepShaver? You've set a ROM file using its preferences dialog (app)?
"NO reason" may means, there could be no ROM file set currently.
At the happy mac, It quits for NO reason.
Edit: I was replying to Bob Kiwi.
It quits because you can't boot a Pippin system folder on a Mac or a Mac emu. You can run some games in regular Mac OS. The rest will only work on a real Pippin.
To quote the thread I linked:
"Most pippin games expect PPC Japanese OS.. KanjiTalk 7.5.3/7.5.5 will work best. Some games use DRM-like things and/or need direct access to Pippin hardware, those games will not work on Sheepshaver at all."
You're OOL (Out of Luck). The Pip
P!n
was so unpopular that the are fewer than 20 games for it. There no chance of it ever getting its own emulator. Perhaps in MESS at some much, much later point, but for now? Forget about it.
