I parted with my last "real" Mac. :(

but some German localized software on floppies is still on the attic.
• Adobe Pagemaker 6.0, 17 disks including ATM
• Claris Draw (1994), 6 disks
• Adobe Photoshop 3, 7 discs including ATM
• Ragtime3, 3.1, 3.2 - 13 disks in total
• Aldus Pagemaker 5, 8 disks plus three PageMaker 3.X Pub Converter Disks (English, I suppose)
• Quadra800/Centris610, 650 OS7.1 disks and additions, 10 disks in total

If someone wants to give the disks a good home please drop a note at 3x8bit(at)gmail(dot)com
The disks are free of course, shipping costs would be nice to receive.

Further, there is a AAUI networking set, free for shipping too - see posts below.

Could you, or the one who receives these floppy disks, make images of the floppies and put them on this web site for archive purpose, please ?

Yes, I think we can get that sorted.
I´ll see, whether one of the emulators can make DC4.2 images. DC6 should be no problem.
Again, the whole bunch is German software.

Hi 24bit. The end of an era for you - Or until the next "real" Mac comes along? Which Mac is your last here?

Basilisk II should be able to make DC 4.2 images for you OK, if you have a usb floppy drive... only 1.4MB disk images tho'.

Thanks for your sympathies, Mike Tom Tom. A long time ago I found I was not a collector.
As things get out of use, they are kept some time on the attic and then given away to friends, relatives or for charity.
Thats what happened to a Amiga2000, a Pentium90 PC, two Mac_II, a Centris650, Quadra800, PPC7200, two iMac Bondi blue and at last the 7100/80av.
This time I have to admit I was greedy and fleabay had the "no fees" days.
I got round about € 200 for my stuff, the SCSI peripherals, MO and HDD got the highest bids.
Not a fortune, but a little cash to look for a Lenovo T61 maybe. A Lenovo E530 or a MacBook may be more reasonable, but I wont get far with € 200.

I am mainly using my T60 meanwhile, the desktops are seldomly used. 10.6 is running on the T60 and my Athlon desktop. Both have Sheep, BII and MiniVMac.
There even is a Asus PIII that can run W98 and therefore FusionPC emulating a Mac_II nicely.
The Asus has a SCSI HBA. I´m just looking trough my old slides with a Canon 2700, must be thousands.
When I´m through with slides, the Canon scanner and probably the Asus rig are the next to go.
I´ll keep you updated.

Sounds like to me you still have something of a collection

Those were some nice Macs to say goodbye to. I also gave my old ones away or placed them out on the curb to fate (usually gone with-in the hour). Once had a Centris 650 (my 1st "real" Mac). Never had a Q800 & still would love to own one. Had a Q700 which dual booted to an Apple 601 card, I've regretted saying farewell to that Mac ever since... You have a T60 with 10.6 on it? I'm wanting to put Leopard or SL onto a pc laptop of mine (mainly because of Rosetta)... one of those daunting tasks I keep putting off...

10.6 install on PC is really mature. One of my last experiments almost a year ago was to make an image of my macbook air, restore that image onto another hard disk, put that hard disk inside a Dell XPS M1330 and install the bootloader and some patches. It recognized everything even the wireless. The only thing that i couldn't get to work correctly was the sleep mode. All my apps were there of course. It may be just me, but i get this unnatural feeling when i see running mac software on PC's

The Hackintosh community is very busy and some very good solutions showed up.
If one takes a good look into the http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.6.8 or the listings for (Mountain) Lion before buying, chances are to get a perfect Hack.

Mike Tom Tom, there is a useful utility here to check your chances: http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=3097
Select Check Compatibility from the File menu - if you get little or no then give it a whirl.

The Lenovo T60 with Intel graphics is one of those set up easy as eating cake and they became fairly cheap on fleabay. Nawcom´s Mod CD 0.3.1 and a Snow Leo retail DVD, thats all.
Sleep is most always an issue and hard to achieve, Intel WLAN mPCI-e is not working of course.

Back to topic:
I have left over a AAUI to BNC adapter with about 20m BNC cables, T-plugs, term. resistors and a nice 10MBit hub/repeater with BNC and four twisted pair ports.
Anybody? Free for shipping, comrades.
I´ll add some pictures later, for those not knowing what I´m talking about.

@24bit: I'm going to give your Nawcom Mod CD 0.3.1 hint a go (found the DL for it), as I have the retail SL DVD. Some time back a friend had given me an AitKos Lion install DVD... OK I installed it and it all went swimmingly, but no Rosetta in Lion and a lot of my apps are old PPC only, so I wiped the partition. I don't have spare laptop drives or an Intel Mac Laptop to Carbon Copy Clone like macjames mentioned so need to install to a partition on this laptop and dual boot... Anyway thanks for the tips.

Back On Topic, kind of; we once cabled up our house for BNC networking - all internal with wall plated BNC jack points (entry and exit) in every room

So you won´t need spare BNC cables in your house.
I´ll post an offer on 68kmla next week then, dont want to see stuff going to the landfill.

If the distro was working with your rig, it should be easy enough to set up SL on that machine.
You will know that Rosetta and the old QT Player are "hidden" in the installer setup options - not to be installed by default.
You will also know that MacOS on X86 needs a EFI partition for the Chameleon loader, if you plan to boot from HDD. A USB drive should work too for a trial, it will be limited by bus transfer rates, of course.

Yes, the ATI seems to be nearly un-destroyable. Worst case it would make a cool paperweight.

For the floppies, I´m afraid I spoke too soon for imaging them. It seems I have no hardware that will run DC4.2 any more. I made the last 800k images before the 7100 was gone, but I´m clueless about the remaining HDs. I could make IMG with my USB drive or DC6 images with an emulator, but its not the real thing.

Maybe the new owner will be kind enough to upload decent DC4.2 images.

@24bit: Congrats on finding a good home for your softwares. Thanks also for the osx86 tips... still not there yet. I keep putting it off for that "rainy day".

I'm able to make 1.4 MB Disk Copy 4.2 images using my external USB floppy drive and Basilisk II (B2 build 142 on 32bit Windows XP box). My USB floppy drive is a TEAC brand, it works OK on B2, a bonus it is also driverless, just plug it in and go. That said, I still have a beige G3 and an ancient Centris 660av both of which I use in preference when it comes to archiving floppy media. The Centris can also archive 400k SD media, which is a rare task these days.

Mike Tom Tom, is that the DC6 optional 4.2 format with your USB drive or the original DC4.2 app?
I was under the impression that the DC4.2 app would only work with real "Mac" floppy drives.

I´ll try my Imation Mac USB drive with B_II/142 on my old Asus W2k system to see how I fare.

@24bit: The original Disk Copy 4.2 - If your PC auto assigns the USB floppy drive to drive-letter A: or B: then you're pretty much good to go. In the B2/142 gui app, enable the floppy under the Floppy tab. DC4.2 works OK if it detects a "live" floppy drive.

Asus running W2k? if this PC is old enough to have a built-in floppy drive, use that instead, it'd be faster than the USB drive.

Thanks for your advice mate! I did not try hard with floppies in the past.
DC4.2 works as it should with B_II, if the floppy drive is configured in the GUI.
Auto mount and Ctrl-F1 did not work with the W2k host, but Ctrl-Shift-F11 did.

I´ll try with W98 on the same rig later, to see whether B_II likes the floppy drive better that way.

Ah yes, "Shift-Ctrl-F11" is the default Floppy reload key command in BII build 142. Cool, it works for you

Several other useful keyboard commands are in the "Readme.win32.txt" documentation under "Keyboard".

Same procedure with W98. No auto mount, no Ctrl-F1.
I like the floppy implementation with FusionPC better, Fusion queries the floppy automatically for inserted disks, but I cant seem to run DC4.2 with Fusion. Maybe just because of that hack?
There wont be many 1.4 MB floppies to image for me though.

- Adobe Photoshop 3.0.1 (German)
- Aldus PageMaker 5 (German)
- Adobe PageMaker 6 (German)
- Freehand 7 (German)
are now added. The other disks are already on Macintosh Garden.

Good to know, things will be preserved now.

I found Powerpoint on HD floppies, but I can make images of those with B_II myself.
I´ll have to check whether the floppies are still readable.
