Legend of Sarc : Blood of Sarc II (a rubbishy zelda clone)

Hi all,

I wondered if someone can help me. As a kid I played the death out of this (probably rubbish) Zelda clone that I *think* came on a MacFormat UK cover disk in 1996. I seem to vaguely remember it got mentioned in the magazine as "crock of the month" but I thought this game was amazing.

It had mild rpg type elements where you gained gold for killing baddies and could spent it on loot to upgrade your dude, who I seem to remember had a mullet and was very ugly. It had bad jokes ripped from monty python and other sources - I remember one moody towns person always said "I sneeze in your general direction". I always killed that guy.

Anyone remember this game? Able to share it? I can't find my old MacFormat or MacWorld discs so I think I've lost it forever Sad

There might even be another Sarc game, since the one I played was called Sarc II.

@Pip: I've searched a MacFormat CD Index catalog (complete, all disks) covering the years 1994 to 2000 and the name "Sarc" or "Sarc II" does not show up anywhere. Nor does the term "Blood of".
The term "Legend of" does, but not in conjunction with "Sarc".

Is "Sarc" the correct spelling of the name in this game's title?

Hi MikeTomTom. Thanks for your efforts.

It has been over 15 years since I played this game so sorry if I have you barking up the wrong tree.

Perhaps it was the "Sac" not "Sarc". It was a shareware title. Out of interest what was the "Legend of" title you found?

Is there a way I can search the MacFormat CD Index myself?

Thanks for your help! The game probably isn't worth the effort but it would be nice to see it again!

It would help if you had an old MacFormat CD lying around: They included complete listings of previous CDs. In the late '90's these were DiskTracker files (they also included DiskTracker on the CD so you could access the database).

The "Legend of" title was "The Legend of Kyrandia".

I'll put the MF DiskTracker CD contents file up for you. Plus the compatible DiskTracker app, shortly.

[Edit] Here it is: "MF-CD-index_img.sit". The DL needs to be accessed on a classic Mac OS to run DiskTracker, both the CD index & DiskTracker are archived here in a Disk Copy 6.3 img, compressed as Stuffit ".sit" for uploading. Requires Aladdin Expander 5.5 or newer to extract. The MF CD index covers all MF CD contents from June 1994 to March 2000

Thanks for your help, I'll see if that helps me find it.

Sudden memory!

I think it was in 97 not 96. Any sign of a legend of something game in the shareware section of MacFormat June/July/August of 97? If you can help me I'll mail you a cookie Smile (Plus you'll be able to see what I love this AWESOME game).

Hey Pip !

If are able to find the game, would you share it with the others on Macintosh Garden (= upload it to this site) ?
