Looking for FWB CDROM Toolkit 2.0

Hello everyone,

I have just bought FWB CDROM Toolkit v2.0.3 and, much to my dismay, the floppy is damaged and I can install all but the main application (oddly enough called FWB CDROM Toolkit).

Does anyone have this on disk and if so, would you be so good as to upload it please? I realise that v4 of the CD-ROM Toolkit is here, but this PPC only and won't run on my IIfx. I'll complement it with my serial number and a scan of the defunct floppy once it is done.

Thanks very much
soudesune

Disappointing deal that one.
You sure tried SUM already, to recover as much as possible off that damaged floppy?
I recall, I had that software with my MacII, but no idea where it has gone, I'll check my backups anyway.

Edit: Nothing found, sorry. As far as I remember, the software wasn't of much use with my CD-300. The CD drive was as "fast" as ever.

I have versions 2.0 and 3.5. I can't remember where I got them from, I think someone gave them to me. I have never used them, and I don't seem to have serial numbers.

I just uploaded them in a .dmg, but the download doesn't work. I don't know what I did wrong. If someone can help me, I'll upload them again. Otherwise I can email them to someone else to upload.

@gim:

... you didn't do "anything wrong (in uploading)" but its "almost" common language here that if the Download Button link in the page is not active as yet (it can take weeks if at all) then you only need to log in and click "Edit this page", then download the item from the editor page.

However. As you uploaded this as a .dmg - this is also not a very useful format for those of us who do not run Mac OS X, yet are able to run a Classic Mac OS natively. It is much better all around if participants uploading files use archive formats that work over multiple OS platforms. especially where ancient Macintosh software is concerned. That is, if the recipient runs a Classic Mac OS on a Mac that cannot run OS X or on an emulator running under Windows or Linux or some other OS, then the only way to get to that archive is on that classic Mac or on that emulator itself. Therefore the .dmg file needs further conversion somehow. Not too difficult if the recipient has access to Macs that can boot into Mac OS X, but not everyone using a classic Mac OS can.

If you have old Mac software for uploading and If you can make Stuffit (.sit) archives of the software under emulation, or if you can create archives under original Classic Mac hardware, great. Failing either, if you have a PPC Mac that runs OS X, you can create Stuffit 7 or later ".sit" archives that can be read by Stuffit 5.5 on Classic Mac (if you set the DropStuff 7x preferences to save as .sit and not .sitx and also not to store Mac OS X hidden (System) files in the archive).

Hopefully soudesune will be able to make use of the .dmg for his 68030 IIfx Wink

Thanks to MikeTomTom for the advice.

I went to the page, clicked on edit, and found the .dmg which I uploaded yesterday. I right-clicked it, and sure enough, was able to download it.

In future I will upload in more accessible formats.

I hope soudesune can make use of the files.

I've also uploaded the files to Mediafire. The link is:

Thanks for uploading. Just to let you know, "CD-ROM Toolkit2.2.zip" actually contains Version 1.5.6.

Catching this quote, I would recommend to create these images within the emulator, using Disk Copy (will create the *.img images). If the stuff fits into 800k or 1440k, I would create the files using the Disk Copy 4.2 format. Also stuff it inside the emulator, to prevent the newer .sitx format.

I believe this is in fact version 2 (contains a Disk image + support file).

To Mitrokhin and gim and to all who have commented, many thanks for your help.

I have just come back from some holidays. I've downloaded the files and I'll try them in the next few days.

I have a CD-ROM Toolkit version 3.0.2d floppy, which works perfectly on 68k hardware (tested on my Quadra 950). Give me a day or so to image the disk and get it over to an internet-connected machine, and I'll upload it here. Smile

New guy- first post. Just an fyi- I tried both files at http://www.mediafire.com/?35t0v9d7eoxxy
Machine says they are corrupt- won't install. Example- name appears as- CD-ROM Toolkitâ„¢ Installer.
On my PC-using MacDrive properties I was able to fix the app type and creator codes but still didn't work. Probably should have read further down the page and tried the other files posted before I started this post- but I will try them now.

Edit: Oh silly me, Mitrokhin already pointed to that one. I had it all the time, sorry.
