Mint 800MHz G4 iMac for services rendered!!!

Looks like I have a chance of picking up a Mint! G4 iMac for fixing a Sony Vaio laptop. It is in exactly the same condition as when new (except some slight discolouration in the drive tray cover). It has the original OS, original RAM, screen is stunningly perfect. I hope she will part with it in lieu of fees, or I may even throw her a few dollars on top.

Oh, here is what it look like BTW - http://www.jeremyreimer.com/postman/files/images/imacG4.jpg

Fingers crossed! Smile

Excellent. Even a 15" version would rock.

I believe this IS a 15" version...?

and yes, it will rock nearly as much as my (now lost) eMac!

Sounds like an original, original. 15 years time it'll be an expensive collectors item. I've read an article about a year ago where it's been used as an object d'art in expensive houses. Same status as the Cube (mine is still sealed up in the original box).

Dang, she loved it as much as I did Sad

It wasn't mint, had a 512MB RAM upgrade.

Still stunning, monitor arm still perfect.... AAARGH. I will keep my eyes peeled for another 1.x GHz G4 eMac...

with working speakers...

Well, I grabbed the one from my local recycle center this morning Smile It's the 1.25GHz 17" model, 1GB PC2700 DDR RAM. Airport Extreme, too! And considering how the apes at the center treat computers, it's in stunningly good condition - a little dirty, a few small nicks, but overall pretty good (and the screen is perfect. Perfect!)

The downside is that they insisted on removing the hard drive because of privacy concerns, so now I need to grab a hard drive and a Tiger install disk image...still, for $20 I can't complain Smile

Wish I could visit your recycle center Wink

... I live in Australia so it would likely be a little bit tricky...

Heh Laughing out loud Truth be told it's mostly just crap Pentium 3-4 PCs, but they do get in gems from time to time (the three Power Mac G4s I got recently, for instance, and my Tandy 1000RL.) I have seen the occasional late-'80s minicomputer box in the process of being destroyed, but if I started collecting those I'd need way more space than is available in my apartment...

I love the iMac G4.. it's probably my favorite Mac actually (and I have quite a few). It's set up on my main desk next to my 3.06ghz 2010 aluminum iMac. Smile

Here's a shot I took when I first got it.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/amatecha/4745549846/ Smile

Yup, that's the guy. Why did the optical drive cover plastic never match the colour of the case? It was a real turnoff for me (like the fake screws on the polycarbonate MacBooks).
