Maybe I´m missing something, but for me its inflate and drag the image onto the running MiniVMac screen. Its really that simple.
When I Unstuff this one nothing is mounted in Mini vMac... I will try with SheepShaver...
How did you inflate the file and which host system are you using?
Thexder does not have MacOS files included, so you will need to run e.g. 6.0.7 to mount the image.
You've bootet Mini vMac already, before trying to mount the image in request?
OK I don't know why, but under Mac OS 7 the image must be mounted manually (after installing DiskCopy 6).
Under Mac OS 9 all was OK.
Edit: Sorry, I want to change the term 'xxx 7' by 'Mac OS 7' now. Read Musto TNT Limited for more details.

Yes a Disk Copy 4.2 file requires another program, such as Disk Copy 6.x to mount the 4.2 file onto a desktop (System 7.0 or later). Usually effected by manually dropping the 4.2 image onto a Disk Copy 6.x icon or its opened window.
You can also extract an archived image file such as ".sit", ".hqx", ".bin", ".zip" etc on your host system, then drag the extracted ".img" or ".image" file onto an already running Mini vMac window.
This way the extracted ".img" file will mount in the running Mini vMac as an additional "disk" and you can access its files that way. Its sometimes easier to do it this way, especially for SSW 6 and earlier Mac OS's which cannot mount Disk Copy image files internally on the emulated system.
I noticed tho' in the Thexder instructions from inside its ".img"
Thexder requires the screen to be set in "Black and White" or "4 Colors" mode. Although it will run on a physical Mac Plus, it seems to be incompatible with vMac. Your mileage may vary.
The game may be problematical in Mini vMac too. I haven't tried running the game so YMMV.
Im no gamer, but Thexder seems to work in MiniVMac OS 6.0.7.
The ReadMe MikeTomTom quoted, also tells about the controls.

Thanks for checking that out, 24bit.
