Move files from old Powerbook 160 into mini vMAc on PC?

I'd like to move files on the HD of a Powerbook 160 running 7.1 to a mini vMac install on a PC.

I understand I need to make a img file of the Powerbook HD or floppy drive which then can be dropped onto my mini vMac install. Just not sure how to make that img file ?

Here's what I tried...
Copied select files from the Powerbooks HD to its floppy drive,
any tools in windows to make an img file from the macintosh formatted floppy
that would be usable by mini vMac?

I also tired installing diskcopy 6.3.3 on the Powerbook,
but just got an out of memory error when ever I tried to make an img of a directory.

Any suggestions would be helpful...

How much disk space is available on your PB160? You need xxxMBs of space free on a hard drive to make xxxMBs of Disk Copy image file.

If you have the space make a new empty folder (give it some name), then, using Disk Copy 6.3.3 on your PB160, create a Read/Write image file of that folder (via Disk Copy's menu options) to any file size you can use. Save the image file as [some-name].hfv or [some-name].img (its not too important for Mini vMac) and have it mount on the desktop of the 160. Fill the mounted disk up with the files you want to use on Mini vMac. Unmount the disk when full and copy it over to use with Mini vMac.

On the host computer you can then drag the saved disk image into a running Mini vMac window to mount it or access the image file via Mini vMac's menu to mount.

Thanks. Got the files over.

I also installed a floppy drive in my PC,
then used HFVExplorer on the PC to read the Mac floppy disks directly.
It could turn them into dsk files that just drop onto vMac as well.

Thanks again for the help, I really like the mini vMac program.
Nice clean simple to use program that just works.
