I've received the June Release of Copland from a fellow at PageTables.com. It is NOT D9 As I thought before, but it is the Compatibility Edition. If any of you are interested, I'd really like some info on the code structure of Copland. I can't identify it, be it C++ or what have you (Though I doubt it's C++, that's just an example). If anyone is willing to help me further and finalize the development of this forgotten OS, I'm all ears. Thanks!

Did you ever get anywhere with your NuKernel project? You have posted about it here (http://macintoshgarden.org/forum/7z-file-extraction-in-mac-os-922) as well as on the classic-mac-dev google groups (like at http://groups.google.com/group/classic-mac-dev/browse_thread/thread/6ff2... might need to have an account to see) but we never did get to see what neat toys you've been hacking away at.

The project is so complex. I've just been focusing solely on NuKernel for a few months now, and it REFUSES, in an way, to run on anything other than a PPC603 chip. I'm at a total loss. And honestly, alone this is impossible. I've considered calling the whole thing off about ten times now. I did get MacBrowser running, and, pardon my fFrench fellas, it's shit. It's basically just a window right now. I really, really need help here. I kinda see why the project was cancelled.

Let me give you an oerall low-down on what's happened so far:
1. Three days after I posted, I started hacking into NuKernel itself.I played with a beta I had running on OS9. That wasabout the only copy I had running on a 603-base machine, and it crashed. Hard.I lost everything.
2. After that, I set about going through the same things I did before (This was directly after the crash, on a G3 Kanga). I must have screwed up somewhere, or forgotten something, because the SOB wouldn't even START this time! Everything kept demanding a "Timing" extension, then it crashed completely.
3. I gave up for a few weeks on it. I decided to work on MacBrowser. I have absolutely NO IDEA what this is supposed to be, be it a web browser or a file browser, I've NO IDEA. I got a window, then it demanded "Timing" again. I panicked and closed it immediately.
4. I went back to NuKernel, which appears to have been what kept Copland crashing. It looks to me (The untrained eye, mind you) that all the extensions, minus that damned Timing extension, are complete. This was about a month ago. I got a lucky brain-spurt and started coding away thinking I had the right thing down. Lo and Behold, I got a working version of Copland up! But do you know what happened, boys and girls? It demanded Timing, and CRASHED!!!
In conclusion, without someone to help me, I'll go no further on this. I do need help badly. I don't care if you used to work on Copland, or are just some DOS nerd. Any help is accepted right now. I really want to finish this, because I know you guys want me to (Hell, preemptive multitasking in OS9? Even I'd say sign me up!),but until further notice, this project is DOA. Dead, in hibernation if you like.

A note to those who need some background: I've been working on and off on NuKernel and Copland for about three years, maybe two and a half, I lost count after a while. All this happened over the course of that timespan, and this is as accurate as to what happened as I can get.

I think it'd be neat if you placed the code online, like on Google Code, so perhaps you can have someone take a look at what you've got. The developer of the Mac OS 9 browser Classila and the Tiger/Leopard PPC browser TenFourFox has found assistance and developers through his Google Code sites. Plus, any and all documentation you have can be hosted and allow for others to learn the lessons you've plowed through. It'd be better to have the skeleton of a dead project than just the knowledge that one existed...!
I know I have some 603e machines (Performa 6320s) at home.
The MESS project has recently made progress on low level PowerPC emulation, up to the early 601 I believe, http://www.mess.org/mess:drivers:mac and I guess hopefully they will reach a level where you can do more in a virtual environment with all the benefits of having to not deal with real hardware's limitations. I bet when that day happens, the amount of people able to help will increase drastically too.

Gods, I hope so. The best I can give you guys is what the original Copland team had. Everything else has been lost in the Great Crash of December 2011. Ruined the whole damned HDD.
