New Math Blaster Plus Forum Topic

I've got Basilisk II installed fine and I downloaded New Math Blaster Plus from here which comes as a .sit file, I tried to expand it using StuffIt Expander, but it says that one of the files can only be expanded using DropStuff with Expander Enhancer or StuffIt Deluxe. So, my question is, what do I do now? This game has quite a good amount of nostalgia for me so, I'd love to get the Mac version of Math Blaster Plus up and running as soon as possible. Thanks for any assistance.

I re-checked the file I recently uploaded, but with my installations of Stuffit Expander 4.0 (in Mini vMac), Stuffit Expander 5.5 (in Basilisk and SheepShaver), Stuffit Expander 7.0 (Mac OS X) it expands fine, without an err msg.

Anybody, please check the New Math Blaster download file, too, because we would need some more experience. Wink

Should they have unzipped as .dsk files? I just noticed that I have two of them...New Math Blaster 1 and 2. How do I go about running these .dsk images

Yes it expands correctly in Stuffit Expander 5.5, to a ".dsk" image file named "New Math Blaster Plus.dsk" (running Basilisk II on SSW 7.1 here).

The OP should look to see if he has this file now after the expansion (despite his error message about not having DropStuff or Deluxe).

To turn this .dsk into a useful file at this stage. One trick you can do is change the "Creator Type" to ddsk and the "File Type" to dimg using a file type changing app such as: Creator Changer or ResEdit (Creator Changer is ideal for this). This turns the ".dsk" file into a Disk Copy 6.x file (assuming you have Disk Copy 6.x installed - and if not - get it installed pronto Wink) Then double click the resulting icon to mount it onto your desktop...

Just a note: You haven't set in your Stuffit Expander Preferences to not to mount enclosed disk images. As this particular downloaded ".sit" archive contains a ".dsk" image file and you don't have DropStuff or Deluxe installed, Stuffit Expander cannot process the file further (mount the .dsk file once extracted from the .sit file).

There is no harm done here to the archive, Stuffit Expander is just informing you and perhaps even Spamming you at the same time Wink

Turn that feature off in the Preferences and you won't get nagged and you only need to find another means to mount the extracted disk image file.

Or, install DropStuff or Deluxe. You don't have to use either of these programs if you don't want to create archives, they provide the "Stuffit Engine" that the Expander requires to become fully effective.

many thanks, guys! got it to run! One question though, is there a way to run Math Blaster Plus in fullscreen under Basilisk II? As it seems like there is no option to make Math Blaster fullscreen in the program itself.

You can also run Basilisk in fullscreen, which makes it to run faster, too.
