No-CD cracks for old games

Now, I know that we have full images for the CD games, and unlike in 1995, we all have large enough hard drives to store them, but is there a way to have no-CD cracks for those older titles so we don't have constantly keep them mounted for our emulators, or have to mount and load them for actual machines? (maybe some ResEdit hack?)

Thanks!

Maybe burn them to a CD.

The need for cracks so long ago was a moot point, the game content had to be held, either on the CD or on the (up to maybe 10GB disk of the day. So you had to store the data somewhere.
