Ocean Bound, Lost Souls, Galactic Core (old Spiderweb Software games by Richard White)

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of the games Ocean Bound, Lost Souls, or Galactic Core, or knows how to get them. They were created by Spiderweb Software during their earlier years, and developed by Richard White (whom has since left the company and disappeared). They were released in the late 90's/early 00's. As of 2007, Spiderweb Software ate a big phail and stopped supporting those games (though they claim they will help out anyone who has the game and needs the registration code if they e-mail them). I was wondering if anyone has these games or knows how to access them, and if it would be possible to perhaps upload them.

To refresh the memory of anyone who knows anything about these games, Lost Souls was a turn-based strategy war game where you could use mana to create different sorts of Chess-looking pawns (the mana was gained by expanding territory). Ocean Bound was a game where you had to get a certain number of people on an island to start farms and build a ship quickly enough before they all died on the island (whether due to starvation or attacks). I never played Galactic Core, but I know it was a space strategy game.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The inverse applies to me: I played Galactic Core but not the other two games. It is a nice game in the same vein as Pax Imperia but not as difficult. You can still download it at Softpedia:

All you need is a serial number to unlock the full version, but I don't have it and you can't buy one from Spiderweb. They'll send you a new one only if you had already purchased one when the game was supported. This is trully abandonware.

I have Galactic Core, as a 19MB (uncompressed) shareware app - on a MacFormat cover CD from 2001.

I may also have the others, but I'm only halfway through imaging and indexing my BMUG / shareware / cover CDs (about 800 of them).

I found Ocean Bound on the info-mac archive.about 2.5MB uncompressed.

Definitely seen Lost Souls in my years. And no I'm not thinking of Castle of Lost Souls for Wolfenstein.

Yeah that's it, although the version that I have (1.04) is 18.1 MB decompressed. Wonder what's behind that 900 KB difference? Anyway, did that version came with a serial number included or something like that?

Well, when I say 19MB, it may be 18.1, But I'll double check. Don't think it did come with a serial, it's in the Shareware / Freeware folder. Again I'll double-check, it's on cd 243 of 804 (according to my disk tracker catalog) ...

OK, I have v1.01 (10.8MB), 2.0MB of Campaigns, 2.1MB Manual, 3.9MB of Multiplayer Maps, plus a few readme's. Block size on CD is 24KB (all CDs are HFS not HFS+, this is still true), so this might explain my total size. No serial unfortunately.

And Ocean Bound? I found a serial number looking for a download, but no traces of the file itself.

Ocean Bound is on theinfo-mac archive. And I'm sure I have an edition somewhere on CD.

I've spent nearly 8 hours looking for Lost Souls. Strange that it never made it onto any of my CDs (so far). As a 1.6MB download from the original developers (accoring to archive.org), it'd be too big for me to check all my floppy disk images.

Thanks for the link. The serial works! I'll upload the game later. I'm so happy! Big smile
