PCI Graphics Cards

Hi all,

I've just acquired a hefty PM 7300/800 (boosted by our friends at Sonnet) and, for the first time as well as initially against my principles, I have a PCI mac [1] [2]. It comes with an ATi rage 128 which I'm sure is grand for playing old 3D games.

What is *the* PCI-card for playing games on a PM7300? I remember drooling over a Voodoo 5 5500 and settling with a Voodoo 3 (on my PC, that is). Reports online seem to recommend an ATi Radeon 9200. I'm running Mac OS 9.1 at the moment.

What PCI card would you recommend, based on your experience?

Thanks,
soudesune

[1] Dammit, I'm a NuBus man and I'm still dreaming of a Radius Thunder IV GX 1600...

Not a Thunder IV, but I spotted this Pivot II NuBus display card on eBay (US sale). Handy if you have a Pivot display I guess Wink

9200 is OK, but there is:

RadeonHD 5450 (native OSX support?) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131436

Dual GeForce 6200 (dunno about any Mac support!) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814139037

GeForce 9500GT (should get it working under OSX) probably not as good as Radeon 5450, but GeForce drivers are usually more mature for OSX Leopard+.

AHAH!!! OS 9.1 -- you should upgrade to 9.2.2, and then get a Radeon 9200 (Pro?).

That is abot your only option for speed... GeForce 4 will not be very close (I wouldn't think)
