Or if you can look past having an attached card, a Netgear Universal Wireless Internet Adapter WNCE2001. It's a tiny credit card sized device, connects to your PB via Ethernet (included in box) and is powered by mains or by USB (included in box).

It's designed for set-yop boxes and the like, but it'll work on anything with Ethernet. I've used it on my PBG4 when working abroad to connect to the free MacDonalds WiFi some 800 yards away - too far for my built-in wireless. Used it on a stand-alone PC too. No drivers required, particularly on Mac.

My pdq doesn't support airport, unfortunately... Thats why i need to use a pcmcia card... and i have no usb ports. It's annoying, i need to get a card for that too.

I use a Lucent WaveLAN silver card on my PDQ. Mac OS 9 (and I would assume X, but... yuck) recognizes it as an AirPort card as they're the same chipset. OS 9 only supports cards with 802.11b and a maximum of WEP encryption. I got it for ~$10 on eBay. I originally bought it for my Newton Messagepad 2000, but I use it alternately for either.
A wireless-to-ethernet bridge is a great option if it's feasible; as bertyboy mentioned, they have great range and they also support newer encryption schemes. Ethernet on the PDQ is limited to 10Mbps, so it won't be any faster than the above mentioned WaveLAN style PCMCIA cards, but most public places use at least WPA encryption--Lowendmac.com did a survey of OS 9-able WIFI cards and not one supports encryption other than WEP.

I use an Orinoco Gold. It works fine under 9 and will do WPA1 (NOT WPA2) under Linux. (It can also be convinced to do WPA1 under 10.3/10.4, but it doesn't really like it.)
