PowerBook G4 MacOS9General

I'm trying to get the OS 9 system files for my Titanium PowerBook G4. I've got stuff like a generic eMac OS 9 install, but I'd like Apple's stock System Folder for mine. It can be found on the Titanium Restore Disc under the hidden .images folder.

I've looked over the web and can't find one. Sad

Which specific PowerBook Titanium model do you have? Apple shipped install/restore discs with that and various other models that were identical, so if you used the eMac disc for Mac OS 9, you have everything that shipped on that machine already.

What makes you think there is some other item hidden on the disc? Those discs are not hybrid discs, so there is only one partition on them.

Yep, again, which model Titanium PBG4 ? I kept copies of all my install discs when I gave mine away.

Oops. I'm looking for the restore for the 1 GHz model. In my search for the internet I omitted this detail. Sorry!

You can find the complete set of Install/Restore discs for the generation of Macs they were shipped with here: http://www.mediafire.com/?2he2s3k4txgp8

That includes the Mac OS 9.2.2 disc

Let us know how you get on with that mediafire download, if you choose to use it. If it's just iMac G4 restore discs, I doubt it'll have support for your ATI Mobility card, nor your Superdrive. The Mac OS ROM version number would also be interesting to know.

Thanks! I'll give them a try. The reason I'm taking a look for the 1 GHz model specifically is to have that SuperDrive support in OS 9. I've had the G4 boot on the eMac install discs perfectly fine, but couldn't get iDVD to work. The ATI Mobility worked fine on that.

Of course, if iDVD outright refuses to work on the 1GHz PowerBook G4 anyway, then that'd be great to know.

I'll be sure to give those restore discs a try.

For SuperDrive support in OS9.2.2 there's always the MDD OS9.2.2, which is installed from within OS X 10.2 or later. It's on this site, maybe more than once, as OS9Complete.dmg - boot into OSX, mount the (locked) disk image, and drag'drop the complete contents onto your hard disk. The MDD had an ATI Radeon 9000 as a video card option, so the video MAY be good.
