Problem with LC III

Hi, I have a problem with my LC III.

When switched on it will not startup for me. I switch it on and there is no display and no chime but it makes the sound from the speaker that it would normally make just before the chime.

The battery is brand new and i tried zapping the P RAM by holding the appropriate keys down.

It used to work when i bought it about a year ago for a few months but then started giving trouble most probably related to the battery.

Once i had removed the ROMS (there is Lo & Hi) and i had put them in badly. The sockets for the roms have 2 extra pins (bottom and top) and the ROM is supposed to be more towards the expansion socket but i had put them more towards the other way and they became really hot.

Is it possible that the ROMS are damaged seeing as the PSU is outputting the correct voltages and the battery is brand new ?

If it is the ROMS, is there anyone who can burn me a new set of ROM chips ?

Is there anything else I can check that I may have overlooked ?

Also please note, I replaced the battery a few days ago. Since the MAC was giving trouble for the last few months I removed its scsi hard drive to use it in another computer. But i would imagine that the MAC should still chime, even with no hard drive.

Please help! Thanks

Sorry if I'm late for this one. If you are not getting a boot chime or video, I would suspect bad ROMs, especially since you put them in badly. Have you checked the capacitors and cleaned rhe logic board recently? A similar problem used to occur with compact macs, particularly the SE30, Classic and Classic ll. Unfortunately, I can't burn new ROMs for you, try asking around the 68kmla. Someone there might be able to help you more. I heard a member there also sells replacement capacitor sets. I'm sure someone could burn you some ROMs as well.
