The two games are both still available to buy and will not show up on this site for a while, regardless of the prices, that do appear to be stupidly high
Your best option is eBay
Hi Innes,
where is SimCity 3000 still available?
Aspyr recently released "The Sims Complete", which has the original game and all the expansion packs - so the original, for OS8.6 will not be available.
Sim City 3000 was dire. Honestly, either use original Sim City, SC 2000, or SC4. SC4 and the Rush Hour expansion have recently been released as a single game with OSX 10.5 / Intel compatability.
There are copies floating about second hand in America however i wouldn't class something as abandon-ware if it was still available for other formats, I.E PC Tho more recently it was practically ported to the DS. The company who owns it are still making money off the intellectual property
Yeah well for those that don't live in america and with shipping prices too high to realistically ship to europe downloading was really the only feasible option for simcity 3000 , also sc4 doesn't work on any of my computers :/ @bertyboy why do you think sc3000 is dire? it has better graphics and usability than 2000 and runs well on old computers.
What part of Europe are you from? Shipping wise, it cant be much more than what this particular used copy i am looking at costs to send to me, and i'm in the UK
Overall its just under $30 (€21) and not really worth it, i would suggest you stick with the common consensus of Sim City 2000, while the graphics may not be as 'advanced' (i hated them, those weird looking advisors gawking at you and such) the gameplay is much better
heh! Sim City 2000 is almost certainly considered the best version. First time I've heard someone suggest otherwise. Maybe it was before your time, but for all the people I knew who were major fans of the original SimCity and SC2k, they didn't pay much attention to the newer versions and SC2k quickly became the "standard".

well, I don't live in the US either and just sometimes I just have to pay the shipping. And the VAT. And the Fedex / UPS / Post Office handling charge (because VAT is due).
All together, it still costs significantly less than the game did new, and I suspect that the same is true for SimCity 3000. So the site really has no legal defence for hosting it. Just bite the bullet and pay for it.
Original SC was written for and developed on Mac then ported to DOS, etc, SC2000 was written on and developed for Mac, then ported. SC3000 was written for console, then ported to PC and finally Mac, it shows. SC4 was for PC first, before Aspyr made the Mac version. It's a good option if you have Intel or Leopard and don't want to use SheepShaver. Again, buy it.
I played SimCity 2000 to death, and I was pleased to see the beautiful graphics and the new features of 3000. I got one off ebay, recently. I also bought SC4 when it was released, but it feels too "bloated" for me, somehow.
I've bought all the Sim City versions, original, 2000 and 4 were all bought from new (well, someone has to buy them). SC3000 I got off eBay many years ago. Like Retrowurst says SC2000 was played to death, SC3000 was dire by comparison. SC4 I thought was a waste of money. SC4 plays OK on my Mac Pro, but I still prefer SC2000, even original SC sometimes.
SimCity 3000 (mixed in with Tomb Raider TLR, Escape from Monkey Island, Star Wars Pit Droids) is currently on sale in eBay UK, price £1.00. No excuses not to own it now. In eBay search for "Mac OS9 Classic Game Pack"
Unfortunately, the vendor refuses to send the game pack outside UK .....
grr, you waited until the sale ends to tell us. We could have bid on it for you.
Next time ... how high are you willing to go ? or would you rather see the eBay page first ?
Thank you for your offer. It's very kind. I will now check Ebay regularly. But I am not sure it's really a good idea to buy this game, as it seems to be a very bad port ... Sigh !
