Some Files Won't Delete from Trash - Need Utility

I have a few files stuck in the trash can and I can not delete them. Anyone have a program they could recommend to do the deletes? It's on my OS 8.5 Performa.

This is what you want.

The utility Protocol 7 references is probably handy but every time I ran into this problem, it was caused by a corrupt file index on the disk.

I suggest DiskWarrior instead.

They don't delete if you hold the Option key down, as you choose Delete?

Its been a while since I've had items in the Trash that couldn't be deleted. I seem to recall that I moved the items from the Trash to the desktop. Then booted up from a system disk (floppy or CD) and ran Disk First Aid to check the main drive. Made repairs (if needed/possible) then trashed/deleted those items.

If things were really bad with the drive and Disk First Aid was unable to fix the problem (unrepairable errors in, B-tree index's, etc), then it was re-format the drive & re-install time, for me.

The previously mentioned utilities may also be able to help, but do check the state of your drive, especially after system crashes/hangs & also periodically rebuild your desktop database.
