I'm trying to upload a game, but everytime I try, I get an error saying "Not a valid URL." I'm not linking to anything. ??
How do I make this work?

Are you uploading into the Game file field?
How big and what extension is the file?
It is a .sit file around 250K. Yes, I'm using the game file field.
Also, I've tried FireFox, Chrome, Opera and IE.
Chrome and Opera have this issue, so I cannot go any further: http://www.macintoshgarden.org/forum/no-longer-able-add-screenshots
FireFox and IE let me upload files, but I get the URL error.
Me too. I've spent the last 2 hours trying to upload DiskDoubler, to no avail.
Some pointers would be nice: which URL is not right? One of the URLs in the text to be uploaded, the overall URL which uploads the form fields to the server (and is a GET being used where a POST might be better)?

That's the same mess Safari gives you when you try to upload. I was able to upload with FireFox fine about a week ago, but I haven't tried since.
In Mac OS 9 only Mozilla 1.3.1 (WaMcom), and MSIE 5.17 you can view macintoshgarden. But you must dissable JavaScript, becase carusel javascript hang your system. Solve: you must direct connect to: http://macintoshgarden.org/tracker
If you want add game or application, you must use Mac OS X or Win XP. Firefox 3.0 or IE 8.0 very strong recomend
I am perplexed. I can upload a 5 MB manual for Consulair Mac C and it becomes available immediately. The program itself (only 1 Mb) seems to upload ok, but when I try to test downloading it, I get the no such key error. Doesn't seem likely this is a storage issue. Am I doing something wrong that I could correct?
I think we sometimes have to wait a short time (a few hours?) before the files are downloadable...
Files are dowdloadable from a few secunds... Something wrong with code or config of this pages...
problems are back Admins!
PLEASE fix these!
I Think http://macintoshgarden.org
has become abandonware / abandonweb itself.
has become abandonware / abandonweb itself.
Once again?
Yep,
It seems like no one is in command, and the site is just drifting in a limbo,
I'd like to buy the whole WebSite in the near future,
and put myself in charge.
@euryale,
when you do that, make my a moderator
I bet the admins took the money and ran! (it was all a big scam)
... it was a hard time for me and Daxeria while sitting on the previous Macgarden site...
mmmm, shame 'bout the 'missing keys', ie the absent Xar[?], and the escalating spammer's galore.
Yeah, the Admins have not come back from Cancun.
and my vacations here in Mexico City are almost over,
and I'll be going back Home to Cancun pretty soon,
So i will probably see them there this Spring Break.
Living in Cancun and taking vacations in Mexico sounds real nice, Euryale...
Does anyone have the phone number of Maedi and tried to contact him this way? He may just be very busy right now.
@Euryale - would be cool to have you as an admin .. though I fear for my beloved OSX games
I don't think we should go so far as bothering Maedi on the telephone. We can just figure out how to solve things on our own (whatever way that might be...).
@Bolkonskij, i second that, and i dunno if spamming Maedi is the way to i go, but i can't help but wonder if he(or she) took the money and run.
I think i now where the money they raised went, it went to there vacation in Cancun.
I just want to be of help to the best mac abandonware collection EVER!
.
i saw a spam post in the forum, is there anyone with permission to delete it?
ps, how long will this site be floating on the inter-web?
is there anyone with permission to delete it?
/deleted.
Luckily this site still allows moderators to delete spam posts, other than the old site...
can you delete the post entitled,WHAT ABOUT POOP?WHAT ABOUT POOP?WHAT ABOUT POOP?WHAT ABOUT POOP?WHAT ABOUT POOP?WHAT ABOUT POOP?WHAT ABOUT POOP?WHAT ABOUT POOP? ?
please?
Yes.
Thanks for fixing Consulair Mac C. Download works now. Could a similar fix be applied to Trapeze Spreadsheet, which I uploaded and somehow has has the same problem?
I have no idea (I did nothing for fixing something yet, because I can't).
Sorry, IIGS user, didn't mean to say you had fixed it. But somebody is listening to this forum, and fixing the chronic problem with uploading.
Maybe a good angel?
Still having troubles uploading with all web browsers in OS X. Guess I'll have to try XP...Thanks
I tried uploading "Creator Changer 2.8.4" using WamCom Mozilla on Mac OS 9.2.2. The .sit file seemed to go up but WamCoM crashed when trying to upload the screenshot. I tried to upload again using Firefox on Windows 2k. The .sit seemed to go up and so did the screenshot. But attempting to DL the .sit got the XML error that others seem to be getting. I left it for 24 hours and tried to DL again. This time it is there, so it was a time period I needed to wait for before it was available. The screenshot is still not there but I will wait another 24 hours before attempting to send it up again.
I'm a noob here and this was my first success at getting an archive up, but the feedback from doing so by the process is less than intuitive
Thanks to all for such a great site.
I've figured out (I think) how to edit my own comments and upload screenshots after uploading an archive. I needed to add a note or comment into the Revision section of the edit page and click the "Save" button directly under the Revision field. This seems to work for me as I have been unable to upload screenshots and edit my spelling mistakes etc; until now. I'm getting succeful uploads now at last.
