Update on my new iMac

Well, I stripped the RAM and battery from the old Beige G3, and also stripped the Airport card from the iBook.

iMac now has:

768MB RAM
40GB IDE HDD (up from 6)
Airport wireless.

I had a hell of a time with scratched Tiger install CDs, so much so, that I tried to pirate new ones off the internetz, which was foolish, as the replacements did not work at all.

I had a spare IDE DVD drive, and the Tiger PPC DVD, and a USB adaptor. It took hours, but it WAS successful, which I found strange, as I thought the G3 iMacs couldn't boot USB. Anyways, live and learn.

It is now running OSX 10.4.11 and 9.2.2 (with Classic). Huzzah!

Installing Wireless-n in the house tonight (replacing short-lived 2nd-hand Wireless-g modem/router). New A3 multifunction does everything wirelessly, which is a bit cool.

New laptop arrives in 6 days! and it will run Snow Leopard and Lion!
