What happened to monkey farm software?

Hey,

Just like the title says, what happened to monkey farm software? Did they get bought out? I seem to remember reading somewhere that ambrosia software bought them out. I might be wrong though. I'm trying to get in touch with someone who might have something to do/might be involved with Monkey Farm Software. Or their new owners, if they where bought out. I wanna try and get all their (really rare) games up here with registration codes - I'm sure someone who worked at monkey farm has masters of their games. PS: If anyone has any monkey farm games that are not already on here, *please*, upload them .

It was a one man company if I recall and he just quit after Bob The Fish, I believe. His last game, Agent QT Pie was never officially released. I found his current site a couple years back, but I can't seem to find it again. I think it was called "like a light bulb" or something like that.

I tried getting in contact with him for a Bob The Fish code, but never got a reply. Hope you have more luck.

This was his site, but it's not up anymore as you can see. You can still see it on web archive. The chaps name was John Butler.

Hey this is John Butler from Monkey Farm Software. Thought I would clear up the "mystery". I started Monkey Farm Software when I was 11. I ran it until I was 14. It was always just me. Then I started high school and got a girlfriend. After that, not so much time was spent on the computer. That's it - no bankruptcy or getting bought out - just got a girlfriend and stopped working on games. That highschool girlfriend and I are now happily married and have a family so it was definitely a wise choice =)

I still am a software engineer, but now I do boring things compared to those old shareware games (but get paid much better).

I found this site because one of the members got my e-mail address. I'm going to dig up my archives and see if I can get him all the games and serial numbers including some unreleased stuff and let him take it from there (but they may sadly be lost)

Also Rezsnore - not sure what e-mail you e-mailed me at, but definitely sorry if I didn't reply. I'm sure I would have tried to reply if I got it, but can't say for sure. I'll be working on getting those games to the individual who e-mailed me today and hopefully they can post them here. Cheers!

Heh. I remember (almost 10 years ago?) when my brother and my cousin played Squirrel Kombat on my cousin's iMac.

When I downloaded it from the Mac Garden years later, I found that it was largely a broken game, with sound not working (if I tried to turn up or down the sound, it wouldn't work until the program was exited), and it wouldn't remember my custom key controls. Bob the Fish was even worse as far as bad game design went. But that was okay: for a (pre)teenager, they really are pretty good, and a throwback to the days when a game could be done by one person.
