Guides on emulating older games

"You're flying the F-16 'Fighting Falcon', a U.S. Air Force fighter, over the skies of Korea. The learning curve is VERY steep and will take time to learn, let alone master. There is a way to 'jump in and fly' so the game can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of experience." --MobyGames.com

I was curious and tested it in 10.4 with Classic Emulation - and it works perfectly fine. Nice Flight-Sim! Now I need to print the manual or at least parts of it...

Here's another link which may prove helpful. It lists the problems and solutions for Falcon 4: http://www.timothymorgan.info/static/falcon4/index.html

This would probably run very well on my dual-1.42GHz G4... Smile

For certain the minimum is 200 MHz, but I wouldn't recommend it with anything less than a 300 MHz G3 and graphics acceleration, built-in card or otherwise.

ADD: I've added all the updates and add-ons to the external download link, in one archive.

The learning curve is VERY steep and will take time to learn, let alone master.

I interpret that as "this game will provide you with unparalleled entertainment for many, many years". Smile

So for sure the minimum processor speed is 200 MHz? Does this game play well at that speed? How well does it play without a graphics accelerator, and if anyone is using an accelerator for this game, what would you recommend?

You're welcome, MCP. I can't attest to how good any of the patches, etc. are, as I just found the site.

If anyone knows how to utilize the Objective Editor, Art Editor, and Theatre Installer downloads from the site http://homepage.mac.com/macf4/ (or from MCP's mirror) please let everyone know. Thanks.

Awesome upload btw, MCP! Smile

Thanks for that link Vitoarc; I wasn't aware of that site or those files. These next few days I'll work on getting those files into one archive and sticking it into the folder on the Old Mac Archive.

Bolkonskij, depends on the uploader. The naming convention indicates that it is a Stuffit segmented archive, and for this title it has been confirmed as the correct method. But sometimes others who upload similarly named files, ie. xxx.sit.1, xxx.sit.2 have used another tool to split up the Stuffit archive, ie. MacHacha or OSX Terminal.

Awesome upload MCP, thanks a lot! Can't wait to try it, hope the joining of the parts will work as intended. (I'm also experiencing problems with that from time to time)

Put them in the same directory, drag-and-drop the first segment onto Stuffit Expander 5.5 or later. This one is a Toast image so you can even extract it on a PC.

Hey, this looks great and all, but those segmented downloads never work for me.

Download of Segment 3 works again. Smile

You'll just have to wait for mediafire to quit juggling their files among servers. It should come back eventually. The download worked when I first uploaded it; I even used a checksum to verify it.

I can't download Segment 3, link runs dead. Sad

Can someone post this again?

The Mac below looks like a PowerMac 5200, 5300, 5400 or 5500 which must be equipped with a PowerPC 603, clocked with 75 MHz up to 275 MHz, built between 1995 and 1998.

um... question... what is the exact system requirement?
and also... could you choose to turn off the texture render for faster gameplay?

as you can see from my avatar picture, thats the computer i have...
it's running OS 8.6

thx... Smile

Not sure of the precise system requirements, though I wouldn't recommend anything less than a G3. Also, now that I've taken all the trouble to upload this thing, I noticed a couple of updaters at The Patches Scrolls that I neglected to include. Tired

ADD: I've added a mirror link for the updaters.
