This is the follow-up to version 2 of the original Falcon F-16 Flight Simulator, being roughly equivalent to Falcon 3.0 for PC; it was followed years later by Falcon 4.0.
The game's focus is on simulating combat between your F-16 and enemy MiG-29s, SAMs, and ground targets, utilizing both fire-and-forget and guided missiles and bombs. Features include 3-D graphics (in 16-color mode only) and digitized radio speech. Detail and difficulty level can be adjusted according to taste and head-to-head network play with another computer is supported. For those with little patience, an "Instant Action" arcade-style dogfighting mode is offered on the main menu.
CompatibilityMinimum system requirements: 68020 or later processor, 4MB RAM, 16-color capability (4-bit color,) System 6.05 or later, 32-bit QuickDraw.

No sound, not even on a real Mac.
Bertyboy, these are "DiskDup+" disk images and the archive they're stored in is a "MacZip" zip file.
MCP used this format (DiskDup+ disk images, MacZip archive) on all of his uploads.
As MacZip has its own proprietary method of correctly storing and restoring a Mac file's resource fork and creator codes etc, these zips are best unzipped using MacZip only. On either a Classic Mac OS, Basilisk II or SheepShaver and also under Classic on a PPC Mac OS X. Drag the zip onto a closed MacZip icon and let it auto-extract the contents for (easiest) good results.
These DiskDup+ files will then mount just fine, if you drag their icons onto Disk Copy 6.1.2 or newer.
What format are the disk images ?
The original images I would have created would be Disk Copy 4.2 images. Which still open easily in Disk Copy (even Disk Utility in OSX 10.5).
Could you please upload an archive of the program itself? The archive you provided contains disk images, and they cannot be mounted in Disk Copy (so this can only be opened on emulators).
I've uploaded a new archive with full documentation in PDF format, disk images of the original install media, the v1.01 updater, and a pre-installed and patched version with copy protection removed. Also provided is the hack information used to patch the game.
ADD: I have not tested it with OS 8 or 9. It would be interesting to see if it works with those OS versions...if you have a machine that can actually run those versions and also do 16 colors! I'm sure a PowerMac 5500 could do that.
Checked the download, it has the same CRC as my original disk image.
The original floppy came with the serial printed on the label.
But I don't ever remember having to use the manual to play. It's about 200 pages.
Well, look what I found in my old notes, use ResEdit and the notes appropriate for the version in the download:
For example,
"What flight control is only useful with Normal Engines? (Page 69)" \
As far as I can get (not too far) no serial is required.
Grrr. the serial isn't in the download either, I uploaded an image of the original install media to the old Mac Garden, with the serial included. It's not in this download, so I'm not sur where this came from.
Here's my serial: 023643
Alas, the manual is far too big to scan / type. Can you give an example of the question ?
Actually, this one has a Q and A copy protection. Answers are not provided in the download.
What sort of question ?
The only thing required should be the serial, which should be included in the download, although I expected it to be on this page too.
It asks questions before I can play it. I can't play it before I answer.
