Guides on emulating older games

One of the most popular combat-simulation games, MechWarrior 2 unleashes 15 customizable BattleMechz and more than 20 intense missions in real-time 3-D. Strapped into a virtual cockpit that thunders with every blast, players battle across a variety of planetary terrain in the ultimate 31st-century combat experience. Macintosh Multimedia & Product Registry Volume 9, No.4 - 1996

MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat is a 1995 video game produced by Activision. It is part of the MechWarrior series of video games. It separates itself from the original board game BattleTech by placing the player inside the cockpit of the BattleMech.

Originally developed for MS-DOS, it was ported to a variety of platforms including Windows, Apple Macintosh, and the game consoles Sega Saturn and PlayStation (as MechWarrior 2: Arcade Combat Edition). The MS-DOS, Windows, and Mac releases shared the same gameplay, while the console conversions tweaked the game's mechanics to emphasize arcade-style action over the tactical-simulation of the original PC release.

In MechWarrior 2, the player can choose to be a member of one of two clans, either Clan Jade Falcon or Clan Wolf, while engaging in a total of 32 missions (16 missions for each Clan) in the year 3057 time frame.

MechWarrior 2 features a soundtrack composed by Jeehun Hwang, which consists of ambient electronic music and a rendered intro sequence by Digital Domain.

Mine is just MadMac's upload, reformatted into a Toast image and zipped. I've mounted it on the desktop of my PowerBook G3 under OS 8.6 and it runs just fine. I used this to mount it:

mcp, does yours work without the "insert cd" error? because the other 1 by madmax doesnt.

The original non-working image has been removed. I tried uploading my new one, but as usual, it uploaded until the last bit and then froze on me. Don't know why I even try. In any case, it's available from my external link. The new file is a zipped Toast image. No insane compression schemes involved.

•Ok, people, sorry but i have mix up files, and the wrong one was uploaded...
•GET THIS TO DECODE THE .HQX PART:

http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/diskdoubler-40

It was compressed in a level 2 DD, just for backup.

I haven't been able to expand this one, either.

by SHiNShU - 2010, October 1 - 7:59pm

i cant figure out what went wrong, but when i drag and drop the file on the stuffit expander icon, it only decompresses the .bin part, but not the .hqx part. then i drag and drop that file over the icon and it says the file's not compressed or encoded but it has to be because it still says mechwarrior 2.img.hqx . i also have "continue to expand" checked like you said to do.

"looks like been uploaded just to annoy others due to 'bandwidth cost'"

The downloads were working at one point in time.

These Amazon sellers will ship worldwide. No excuses if you really want it. Most of them are Disc only, so the shipping will be pennies.

Everyone who uploads something here has had to buy it (and usually many other titles too) at some point.

but computers that support classic can boot from the 9.2.2 system folder

Mine, does not. It's a PowerBook G4 Late 2005.
But I could try this on my older Mac, PowerBook G3 Pismo.
