Hack for 8 player characters in a party:
---------------------------------------------
To put 8 player characters in a party,
1. Open M&M II and click on 'Go to town'.
2. If necessary, move all your characters out of the party, so that they fill slots 1-6 in the roster.
3. Create two new characters (in slots 7 and 8 ).
4. Move the first 6 characters back into the party.
5. Quit M&M II
6. Open the 'Master Roster' file with a hex editor.
7. Go to hex address 1952. This should read:
00 00 - the first character in the party, roster entry 1
00 01 - the second character in the party, roster entry 2
etc.
FF FF FF FF - the 7th and 8th character in the party.
00 06 - the total number of characters in the party.
Therefore, to add the last two player characters to the party, change
FF FF FF FF
to
00 06 00 07
and
00 06
to
00 08
If you accidentally remove the characters from the party, you will need to use this hack again to put them back in.
Hack for free hirelings
--------------------------
The cost of a hireling is offset 108 bytes from the first letter in their name. So, for example, the cost of Sir Hyron is 2 gold per day, and is stored at hex offset CFD.
I haven't tried setting this to zero, although I think it should be safe.
