The third of the MacVenture games, Shadowgate abandons the real world settings of the previous installments, taking the player to a land of magic and dragons. The goal is to reach the Warlock Lord's before he can open the Gates of Hell and summon the Behemoth. With a limited number of torches at your disposal and many ways to die if you fail a puzzle, this game is hard but totally worth your time.

There really shouldn't be more than one Shadowgate page, but anyway I had to upload somewhere, so I put it here. I was able to take the original disks I acquired and use the previously uploaded cracked Shadowgate application (who did it and how?) to make working 400k disk images, including a self-booting disk 1 image. Just drag-and-drop onto Mini vMac, and then do the same with disk 2, and it works just fine. It will run alright from a hard drive, but you would have to make sure to move the hidden files too like the original uploader did.
Anyway I scanned everything that came with it into PDF format, though I think it's missing a Mindscape catalog and a card or two.
I'd still rather have version 1.5 just because I prefer Mac OS 7 to System 6.
Edit: Changed 'xxx 7' to 'Mac OS 7' - IIGS User
I think it's fine to replace, but there is another Shadowgate entry.
I'm not aware of the differences yet, except the other entry told about 32-bit compatibility.
But, in this case, I would lead decisions to other peoples.
I have an original copy of this disk. Since the game was re-released (without copy protection) in the early '90s, is there any reason to want the copy-protected version? Is there any difference?
Here ?
Does anyone have the original floppy of this? Making a correct image would be tricky, though.
