From the Inside Mac Games review:
"In MacSoft’s Tropico, players take the helm as “El Presidente” of a tropical island paradise. From building housing, to enacting martial law and having enemies shot on sight, El Presidente is in charge of it all. So, does this latest “Ruler Sim” live up to the hype? Does it provide hours of “Omnipotent Leader” fun? Will it build your self-esteem and raise your conciseness to a higher echelon? I promise two yeses and one very strong maybe. Read on for answers and one shocking revelation that may shake our society to its very core! Well, perhaps that revelation thing isn’t true, or is it…?"

Comments
I've uploaded a CD-image of the game: please confirm whether it mounts properly.
Download link MIA
I came across a map pack adding three scenario maps to the game and just uploaded & linked them in the game description. All three maps offer experienced dictators a challenge. Have fun
You can also get this from GOG.com(for pc)
Ouch, Feral Ineractive still sell this, so I've removed the download on MegaUpload.
Thanks
Delighted to see Tropico here I wrote a "non family friendly word" in my first post. Now corrected that - let your youngsters explore MacGarden again
)
Did I miss something ?
Bolkonskij, please edit your comment to make it more *ahem* family friendly, Thanks
Thanks Bolkonskij,
From memory I had thought it was an anti-piracy measure, using 800MB cd's in the production. I've seen similar before, where they'd set up an 800MB partition with 150MB free and somehow press that onto a 700MB cd. Of course any attempt to use Toast or Disk Utility to copy it would ask for an 800MB disc.
Earlier versions of Tropico came on 2 cd's. But I just used a DVD-R to burn a backup copy of this.
Has anyone tried playing from a mounted (locked) disc image ??
I downloaded the file (688 MB), but when I got it onto my desktop, it says it's 721,8 MB. And if I unpack it, it'll even be 791,9 MB - too big to fit onto one CD. I fired up Toast 5, clicked on the "others" tab and selected the toast image. Then I mounted it. After that I dragged the mounted image of Tropico in the data tab. Then I manually deleted all the various manuals in different languages - they took almost 150 MB! After that I was down to roughly 650 MB, burned the disc and it worked perfectly. Thought I'll let you know in case someone else runs into the same problem
No problem, I'm working on Tropico Mucho Macho just now, but Tropico 2 might just be too recent.
Can't wait to play it again. Awesome game. Thank you so much bertyboy!
This Looks AWESOME!
