Nisus Writer 4.0 was finally released, with a great sigh of relief, in October 1994. The employees (who at this point numbered about 25) celebrated with champagne and took pictures of themselves with the UPS guy loading the first boxes into the truck. However, the excitement didn’t last long. The first release of Nisus Writer was, unfortunately, plagued with problems that were not uncovered during beta testing. Thus, the first several months after the release of Nisus Writer were spent fixing bugs, and maintenance upgrades were released until the product finally stabilized in the middle of 1995. - Excerpt quoted from "The Nisus Way: Chapter 1".

Nice. One of my favorite Quadra's. I owned one too some years ago. Of my old Macs, I only have a Mac SE & a Centris 660av left - the Centris is a pre-Quadra '040 Mac.

Quadra 650, with MacOS 7.6.1, 32 MB RAM, 256 MB hard disk.

YW pquadra. Glad you found something that worked for you. What model Quadra do you have?

Dear MikeTomTom,
thanks a lot for your useful hints. I used Compact Pro and it worked! I didn't think it coul be so exciting to install and run applications, control panels and extensions on an old Macintosh Quadra, which I bought in 2003 for 60 euros and which I still regularly use to connect my hand-held Psion Organiser II.
I was a bit disappointed witn previous Nisus Compact 3, because of the lack of the powerful replace features I already used with Nisus 2 (not working, I don't know why)!
I have read your post only now, because I have been two months away from my Quadra.
Thanks again and thanks to everybody in Macintosh Garden.

I don't know of the multiple part NW 4.1.6 installer, sorry.

Alternatively, you can split the existing archive & its installer that is here, over successive floppy disk file sized "part files" if you need to, using a number of file splitting utilities. You can then reassemble those parts at your chosen destination using the same software that split the file up. The most common tool for doing this on a classic Mac would be, I guess, Stuffit Deluxe, version 3.x + Even Stuffit Lite 3.5+ if you can find it (not too difficult).
Other (similar) file splitters include Compact Pro and Split & Join. There's others to choose from here, too.

I'd like to get the Nisus 4.1.6 installer on many separate sections, so that each section could fit in a HD 1.4 MB floppy disk. This was originally available in Nisus web site, but now I can't find it all over the internet. Maybe someone still has it and could upload it.

I always wanted to buy this. It got great reviews, but it was two hundred fifty dollars. It ran on System 6, then.
