Another great find at the dump!

I found today, a G3 tower (no RAM, a bit beat up)

I found a G3 iBook (identical to mine) -- missing optical drive, but PERFECT otherwise

PowerMac G3 266MHz + Zip drive, pizza box. (no RAM, but perfect order)

Workgroup Server 6150 (stripped)

No monitors, keyboards or mice dumped with them

I can install more RAM in the PowerMac G3 pizza box, but the only Mac monitor -> PC monitor adapter I had, I sent to another user on this forum

I'll rummage around and see if I can find another... long shot tho.

I will strip goodies from my old iBook, and install it in the new one (which MAY be the 15"), and therefore get a much cleaner, and less damaged final product!

I'll do some research into max RAM values for the G3. I also have a spare 15" LCD/TFT screen, which will suit, if I get it running. I have a few PCI USB cards, so will use the spare Mac USB keyboard and mouse I have.

Will post pictures if I find time!

PS. I left the Workgroup Server and Tower, as I was not in my 4x4, but someone else's sedan, and it was already pretty full.

The iBook turned out to be a joke... no Airport card, no RAM, and a broken battery lock (it broke as I removed the battery). The battery (an original Apple branded one) still appears to hold around an hours charge, so I put that in my existing iBook. A pity I couldn't fix the case (or screen) up, as it was the 700MHz model (mine is the 600Mhz model).

The G3 has gone into storage until I can find the VGA adaptor. I should have taken some photos of the iBook but I dumped it (in many pieces) today

I tried to salvage the two other G3's today, but they had both been crushed by a bulldozer (sigh).

Still a worhty haul.

I'm finding that upgrading RAM (say from 512MB sticks to 1GB sticks) could cost me more than I originally paid for the Mac. Trying to find some 1GB DDR333 SO-DIMMs for my iMac G4 - they're also fit in my PBG4 I use every day - just too much, but I'm finding I can buy ANOTHER perfect confition iMac G4 with a 1GB stick in the bottom slot (and keyboard and speakers and mouse and power cord )for less than a 2nd hand stick alone.

@bertyboy, I know exactly what you mean -- had to buy 2 x 1GB sticks (compatible) for my Dell, and it was not a pleasant experience...

I think having a "working" battery makes my iBook complete. I'll never find the extra RAM for it anymore, so it won't run OSX

I might have a look for that adaptor online, and also check for some unopened ZIP disks...

I think that "lucky dip" feel is what dump finds are all about. First your eyes pop out of your head (you see booty), you then checkout if anyone is watching, then you "smash and grab" making off with a stash of booty. That is a big part of the fun.
What happens then back in your shed out of public view is another matter. Yes I will agree, upon closer inspection most of the so called booty ends up back at the dump but it's the whole process that makes it fun.
There is a dump near me and every time I pass my eyes are drawn to it.

These finds are very rare at Deloraine, Tasmania. Also, if you don't get it quickly, it gets run over by a bulldozer!

Although I could have taken these free of charge, I prepaid in case I found something (which I did).
