I know that these fora may not be the appropriate place to ask, but after pumping a few gigs of content from here to my iBook over the years I feel welcome.
I would like to know if anybody is actively developing classic-like games for OS X!? I can't tell you how much I ache for these simple and eternal games to play on my Intel macs. There are so many games that I've been playing for YEARS without falter, because no matter how simple, they remain THAT cool. I'm talking about MechWarrior, B17 Bomber, Star Wars Episode I Racer, X-Wing, Battlezone, Super Metroid, and F-Zero.
These games just never lose their appeal! However, I'm tired of emulating and putting up with the performance hits.
I am calling out to hobbyist developers to help me realize some of the games constantly pinging in 8-bit audio in my head. I want to create games that are as simple as those mentioned, but with slightly cleaner graphics and interfaces. My games are originals, not adaptations or clones, and I dream every day about some day playing them on my MacBook Pro without the emulators and roms.
Let's make it take advantage of our graphics card technology and our massive modern displays! Not to mention our hard drives! Whoowee, imagine the near unlimited numbers of textures and sound files!
If you have the time and motivation to pump something out of Xcode, please let me know and I'll share everything with you! I want the games to be free for all, but NOT free-quality. I want them to feel complete and thought-out.
Thanks for your time.
